I think it will work with a 12j rim stock inside tyre position, some negative camber will lift the outer edge off the tyre of the road aswell so tyre contact patch wont actually be right out at the outside anyway, if I need some camber adjustment there I can just fit adj tcas.
I can also raise the mount point of the tca in the crossmember giving me more scope to lower it before the tca arm goes past level and into positive camber. im gonna get the lowest front springs available and try it

I have found some low low springs for sale second hand I think they are old ones that aren't available anymore as there only 5 coil !
I shall buy them and see where that gets me.
I do like the wurth one but for easiness for myself im doing jagermeister as the livery is a lot easier to do and also afaik it hasn't been done yet.
the kit and wheel/tyres are costing Ł4k alone, there is no way am I gonna fit all that on a rusty turd
ade has sent me some pics of the supercharger aswell the legend that he is

kick it in the guts max, you've seen it, you've heard it and ur still asking questions lol
I shall be wanting the mad max on/off blower button on my gear lever lol
ive bought a tt modified metering head with the enrichment block in aswell to help with the fueling.
apparently with the blower on it should make approx 240 hp, it was another reason to buy a good low mileage car else the engine and drivetrain would of probably shit the bed tbh lol

I just found a pic of a zakspeed escort
that looks cool as fuck and that is running 16x11j fronts, 16x13j rears, that looks awesome and makes me think if I run 18s front and rear it will still look good
also the kit will all be screwed on so removable.
I will rivnut the car then have a thin soft cushion between panels and car and screw it on, once in place will put cling film on car panels behind kit then expanding foam everwhere inside kit that's not visible, I can then remove kit and cling film will stop it sticking to the body, the panels will be supported everywhere internally then against the body panels

although tbf my panels will all be bolted on and removable so a little more rough and ready like the originals would have been.
I have just had a reply from image wheels and they can make me the bbm rims in 19"
so I could potentially run 285/30/18 fronts and 305/30/19 rears
or it will be 285/30/18 fronts 335/30/18 rears.
I need the kit here now before I can order the wheels so I can check the height and offsets.
also looking at the mk2 escort zakspeed its not spaceframed so the sideskirts sit higher than the capri but the front soiler is lower, I see no reason why I cant just add a deep splitter to my front spoiler if necasary to make it look right, I can also fill out my arches if necasary if it looks abit 4x4

I think I will leave about 4" gap above spoiler, I shall have to go and measure some speed humps when I get to that bit.

The only way this will clear speed bumps is if you have it as high as his as the front of that car will be over the bump before the wheels touch it.
Hope you build and keep this one, you seem to go through projects like my wife does periods.

just to be clear in my garage/store I have an r32 gtr, r33 gtr, c210 1979 skyline, 1969 Dutton phaeton v8, 1972 Chrysler ch360 and now the capri.
none of them have been sold !
as for the looking wank that's your opinion fair enough, but I am not about to build a car that cant be driven it would be silly.
and the rear end needs the proper spoiler it will make all the difference, I plan on doing the rear diffuser aswell but it will all depend on the spare wheel well depth.
I will be leaving a 3-4" gap above the front spoiler now im guessing the wurth rep is a lot higher than that it certainly looks it.
I will also be filling the arches with rim and tyre, and kit will be riv nuted on and removable.
tbh it would be nice to at least get the chance to build it before its assumed itl be wank before ive even started !
it will look as good as I can while remaining driveable on something other than a pool table
I have bought what I think are the lowest available lowering springs for the capri tonight, once I get them on I will have an idea of where im at suspension wise and if I need the adj tcas.
the bottom line is if I cant get it low enough I will modify and lower the arches and the front spoiler to suit.

I don't want coilovers and hopefully I wont need them. I simply need it as low as it will go I havnt gone "steaming in" buying anything, if these springs don't get it low enough it will need some serious alterations as I need to keep the crossbeam 4" above the road I currently have 5", also I got them for Ł12.50 delivered apparently 3"ish lowering springs on a 2.8i
im limited to what I can do until the kit gets here but I can start on the suspension as I know my new tyre height difference.
rear is easy I can just lower it on lowering blocks at least 2" if necasary.
I had some good news on the image rims today though.
they will make me 18x11 fronts and 19x12 rears in the bbm design , not cheap but will look awesome

money is sitting there ready just need the kit to check sizes first.
they are proper close mate just a few mm clearance I will have to check how much height ive got at the top, im glad you said that as I hadn't even thought of height
I cant run a 12j front though it will have to be an 11j due to fitting a 285/30/18 tyre to it and 11j is the absolute limit.
so at present now looking at 18x11j fronts, 19x12j rears at 305/30/19 or if I run 18x12 rears I can run 335/30/18s and I will run the correct offset so the inner edge sits the same as stock widening my track 4" front, 5" rear.
if I need the extra inch at the front I will have to do adj tca and adjustable top mount on coilovers.
or to keep the wheels slightly smaller I could run 15x11j fronts on 285/40/15 24" total tyre size rare but available and 17x12j rears on 315/35/17 rears 25.7" total tyre size

that's gotta be wrong surely aint it ?
unless the tyre has a hugely wide section width, I cant find the section width data for the tyre anywhere ?
its a typo approved rims are 9.5j - 11j on yokohama 285/40/15 total size 23.9"
rears I could then run 12j on kuhmo 315/35/17 total size 25.6"
the front tyre size will be 2.5mm taller than the rear though.
I also have a total size issue on the front as I don't have much clearance upto the spring seat.
I have found a pic for comparison of a 295/40/15 and a 315/35/17
my rear 17"would be the same my front 15" tyre section depth would be 4mm less
the problem is im not sure I like that much depth of tyre as much as I like a massive rim with smaller tyre, but all other sizes are 24.7"+ so raising the car more and more .....
here is a pic of the exact tyre I have found mounted on rim a 285/40/15 yokohama avs tbh they look much smaller than the 295 above
I guess if my section depths are almost the same but with 15" front, 17" rear it will keep with the aspect ratio of the original cars 16" 19" combo, I cant go above 17" on the rear else the tyre depth will be a lot thinner on the back than the front and look shit imo !
for comparison purposes the rears in that pic are 345/35/15s

im abit reluctant to spend Ł2k on rims and then fit tyres that are discontinued, Michelin make a replacement but there 24.6" tall !
the 285/30/18 tyres are only 24.7" tall and I have a mass of tyre choice available.
im still looking into it but the 15" 17" combo looks like a no go now tbh, this ones a keeper 100% so I need tyres that are gonna be replaceable in the future and I cant have a bigger profile tyre on the front as it will just look stupid imo, id rather have 18" front and back.

Interesting project I think to pull the look off fully you will have to put it on airbags , or coilovers with airbag nose lift.
If you do go for 19's I have 2 almost new 305/30/19 pilot sports you can have cheap.

well I have just found a 295/40/15 that is still manufactured by Michelin.
295/40/15 and fits on an 11.5j rim aswell total diameter 24.2 " Ł346 each though with vat !
that would bring me 4.5" out aswell with the rims and hopefully fit under the front spring cup

got my first parts here for it today
my springs arrived that I won on ebay Ł12.20 posted
the original springs on the car are 7 coil these are 5.
they measure 8" long and 7" long when I stand on them, im about 190lb so I think there 190lb springs aren't they ?
still havnt got the car on the ramp yet though havnt had a frost

well we finally had a decent frost this morning so I got the capri on he ramp and the Chrysler in the lockup.
got a couple of hours on the car today
got the old girl on the ramp
got the struts off, everything came to bits easy its all brand new and polybushed.
the original springs are shot but thankfully the shocks are perfect.
the original spring is 12" tall, the new one is 8" tall, compressed the original was 6" the new lowering springs are 4.5" so has dropped the car 1.5"
the car has been undersealed but only with the car being complete on the floor.
so while the shocks were out we cleaned it and undersealed it, no rust to worry about in there
and how she looks now, front crossmember is now 3.5" of the floor she is slammed as low as its gonna go without major modifications.
to go any lower the bottom arm will need alterations as it will be coming up past level.
with some 2" lowering blocks in the rear the car will then sit dead level, then new front tyres will be 0.5" bigger, rears 1.5" bigger so giving the nose down look it needs with the rear 1" higher.
size wise under the spring cup weve got maximum 0.75" clearance so max tyre size is 24.2" so It looks like its made the decision for me with the 285/40/15 fronts 23.9" total, 335/35/17 rears 25.9" total.
im not gonna touch the wings/body until the kit is here just incase there is anything I don't like about it or wish I had done different.

How much did you pay for your supercharger kit if you don't mind me asking? I haven't seen a power+ original kit for sale for donkey years!...
To get the max out of it I would ditch the MFI and look for an early Scorpio 2.8 EFI engine and use the inlet manifold, plenum and dizzy and run a third party ecu.

it is a super clean shell ade just a little surface rust here and there no rot found as yet
the crossbeam now sits 3.5" off the floor
it is proper low it almost wont go on the ramp lol
it wont go any lower mate without major work as the bottom arm is now level and the coilspring is 4.5" long compressed
ive bounced it as hard as I can and the shock doesn't bottom out.
I need the kit now to see where im at but if it sits where the front valance sits that's about 4.5" off the ground so a small splitter under the front bumper will do the trick

To get the max out of it I would ditch the MFI and look for an early Scorpio 2.8 EFI engine and use the inlet manifold, plenum and dizzy and run a third party ecu.
