Lol, if it's only a drip, Id leave it too! Guess I've been lucky, mine has never leaked, even after I rebuilt the engine... Well, only on the rocker cover, but I could never get them right!!

Car is looking good Glenn.

Having a garage to work in at your own pace makes a big difference to when and how much you can get done, I remember the days of trying to work on a driveway. I changed a sump once in the snow.. Never again!

Yeh defo matey. I defo dont miss my old house with only a drive. All my tools and my jack was upstairs in the spare room cupboard. It was a chew on going up and down the stairs all the time.

Well i took the cossie for its mot. It was the first time the car has been tested by someone who wasnt a friend.

It flew through. The good old girl. Ive just bought some brake/fuel pipe clips to fit cause mine were all snapped and the pipes have been held on with cable ties.

The car is also due a oil and filter change.

It felt strange getting into the cossie and driving cause the last time i used it was last November. Its just one of them cars that makes me smile. Its just funny cause for a old car it goes like fook.

I thought it would pass ok Glenn, when you look after them like we do there is no reason for them to fail the MOT. Just given mine a Spring clean and I had to replace the drivers side headlamp glass which got broken when I was out in it last week. It looks much better with the new amber front indicators, should never have put the clear ones on in the first place.
Cheers Richard.

Yeh we need to do our best to look after these old fords.

Is yours a 2wd saff? Imo a 2wd saff should always have the standard lights.

Glad it sailed through!! Hate taking cars for mots, especially older ones!

I'll be taking mine to get a mot (well, a test at least! Lol) very soon, fingers crossed it'll pass?! Not been properly used in years, but this year I will be using it!!
Going to go back to standard seats and loose the harness's too, so the kids can sit in the back. Think my loony driving days are gone! Lol

Bit of an update on my saff. Since the shat weather is here I thought I would do a bit of work on the cossie.
I bought a second had dash and gear stick surround for the cossie. So I took the surround out,I've always had sloppy gears so on closer inspection the gear stick cradle bushes were shot. Also my gear box was really noisey in 1st and 2nd. The cossie has always had an oil leak since I've owned the car so I thought I would change the lot.

Gear box out.

you can just see the cradle bushes that are shot.

the suspect oil leak. Rear crank shaft oil seal.

Cleaned the oil off and replace the seal.

I replaced the gear stick cradle bushes with polys.

New clutch time.

A member on here put a thread up saying he was giving away a free cossie gearbox so I picked it up. Here is a pic of it fitted.
Since the car was jacked up I thought I would replace the steering rack bushes. I fitted solid bushes years ago and since fitting them I regretted it.

So I list of what I've changed/replaced
Steering rack bushes
gear stick cradle bushes
rear crank shaft oil seal.
clutch kit
gear box.
I give the underside a bit of a clean up too.
Time for a test drive and a wash.

So all this work started off with a gear stick surround lol.

yeh I changed clutch pressure plate and bearing also.

on the Burton power web site the clutch is listed as standard and for performance.

The original clutch coped ok with my engine power.

Did you clean and degrease the flywheel and new pressure plate thoroughly? I’ve had the clutch slip on my 24v as well after I replaced it. But I kept driving it and it got better, upto the point it didn’t slip anymore.

I put plenty of copper slip on the spines so it would slide in the clutch ok. I wonder if this could cause it.

as far as I'm aware there flywheel surface didn't have any grease on it. I need to drive the car again and see if it clears up.

You have been busy Glenn! You have had a great result getting a replacement gearbox for nothing and it all works fine.I presume you are still on cable operation with your clutch? With the standard set up there is no way of adjusting it to stop the slipping? Maybe it is just contamination on the flywheel surface or clutch material.A pain if you have to remove it again after all your hard work!!
