It's Simon @ SAD Racing who's talking me into it, I know it's very competitive too, I wouldn't be in it to compete though as I start, just to get grid race practice in, it's also nice to know I don't have to enter every event.

Bit more of an update,
Got some carbon door panels off MT motorsport, the rear doors had been cut out a while ago and the carbon covers really tidy it up, the fronts haven't been cut out for personal protection with the front fitted it looks much more professional, got some door handle straps from ebay to help me actual shut the door when i'm in it.
Next I started modding the strut brace, the mountings it had fitted were the horrible ones that sit over the whole tower and these didn't allow many of the top mount bolts to fit so they had to go, luckily I found on ebay some original group A mounts that were fitted to some of the rouse cars, even luckier these actually fitted to the original strut brace with only minor mods particularly to clear around the brake fluid bottle
Today I got them welded in and in primer, will try to get the red on tomorrow

Been doing some small jobs on the race car whilst |I await the return of the engine from Reyland, the head is now at NMS for porting so it won't be long before its back, I'm hoping for the first 2 weeks of Jan so I can fit it as i'm off work for 3 weeks then.
I Changed my steering wheel as the cossie 4x4 one I used tended to be slippy when used with gloves (which are now mandatory when racing), I fitted a sparco suede one which is far better and I can still see the shift light on the rev counter.
I also change the fuel pipes, as for many years I had run plastic fuel pipes and wanted something more substantial under the car in case I had an off and damaged them
got some 5/16 pipe off ebay and made some up, easy work with the correct pipe bender and the car on a 2 post ramp!
original plastic pipes that did do the job to be honest
I also modified one of my spare gearboxes for the 3.9 drop gears, a couple of mm needs grinding off the lower bearing carrier on both sides of the casing, this will speed up gearbox changes until I can get a proper gearbox for it or another set of 3.9 drop gears

Yes steve the stack and charge temp works great! lol
cheers Jay thanks for the offer, how thick is it as the piece around the master switch has to be very strong as it also has the fire ex pull and it could pull straight out if I have to use it in anger

Had a week off so got some more done on the car
The bottom of the drivers door had some rust so I cut it out and welded a plate I before filling and painting it with a rattle can, never been good at body work but it looks ok from 10 feet away! Its tidied it up and it is a race car after all!
also this week my new Sabelt 6 point harness arrived, my old one was out of date at the end of 2012, that fitted really well so I bought the same one again.
I got a spare tailgate off a mate, so I can have a go at getting some extra weight out of it, this done I welded up the rear washer and wiper holes, still need to drill holes down the side to reduce the weight further but haven't got round to that yet.
Today I decided to paint the underside of the car just to tidy it up a bit, used a Hammerite smooth and it looks ok, I also removed the foam backing from my 2 spare bumpers to lighten them like I had done with the bumpers currently on the car, these will both be swapped over when painted.
Tonight my new gearbox arrived!! It's a quaife dog box straight cut close ratio with uprated centre differential, well happy to get this and it should transform the car and give me more confidence than a standard gearbox did, my new engine spec is over 400 bhp so it really was necessary

About a year ago I found a very rare sierra xr6 rear spoiler that was only available in south Africa and grabbed it for 20 quid on Ebay, a forum member on escort rs cosworth .com kindly helped me out big time picking it up for me and then storing it in his shed till we both remembered about it a year later! .
For racing I can't use aero dynamic aids except for original equipment and accessories available at the time from the manufacturer, hence being able to use this as it has ford motorsport lettering on it.
last week it arrived and I soon got to work cleaning it up, removing adhesive and sealent, today I fitted it to my new lightened tailgate. I'm really please with it as it's much bigger and shaped more aerodynamically than the original XR4x4 spoiler with out looking too awkward.

Got a bit more done over the last week so here goes
When I got the Quaife dogbox it had no reverse gear lock out the previous owner did rolling starts so it was less important I however do standing starts so I had to get a working lockout as I didn't want to go from first to reverse!
parts from Quaife arn't cheap but the guy on the phone was most helpful and I managed to just buy the bare minimum and fabricated the rest myself
from this
to this:
the blue lift up part and coller above came from Quaife I drilled and slotted the original lever and made the metal stop myself using a diagram provided by Quaife, the result is a perfectly working lock out and less than a quarter of the Ł400 Quaife wanted for all the bits!
Whilst ordering bits from Quaife I purchased 2 brass seats for either side of the ball knuckle as they were slightly worn, the gearchange is now much improved
Back onto the car now and this week I fitted a steering wheel spacer I had laying around to see what its like ,still not sure yet as I normally have the wheel much further away but touring car drivers have the wheel close so I thought I would try it
I got a varley race battery off a mate so made up a mounting in such a way that I can still use a normal battery if it doesn't work too well (seen/heard lots of horror stories about race batteries)
Yesterday I picked up an alloy rad off a pf member (Thanks Dan) and today set about fitting it
fans and turbo cooler all swapped over
All fitted
Also fitted my new Sabelt harness as the old one was out of date
Spoke to my engine builder Martin at Reyland last week and the head is back from NMS and the engine is now being built and should be ready some time next week
Its going to be a rush get it fitted /set up and tested but I will make the first race of the season in the Northern saloon and sports car championship as my original plan of doing the blue oval series has changed as my shifts at work don't work with their dates at all doh!
Hope to have a pic of a rebuilt engine for my next update

Huge update time
Time was pressing on and with work taking up a huge amount of my time I was running out of time to get the car ready for the first race on April 21
martin pulled out the stops and got the engine built for me and I picked it up last Friday, leaving me only one full day to fit it!
On the way home I called in on all round top bloke Matt Lewis who has helped me since I started racing in 2010 to get some consumables, oil etc cheers Matt
Come Saturday morning I gathered a big group of friends bribed with bacon butties and McDonald's we set about dressing and fitting the engine in one day!
build up started
NMS ported head looks great
least we have a spacious workshop
coming together

The gearbox is stunning, the gear change is so quick! sounds great as well
still loads of tidying up to do and a few things to sort and run it in, its booked in at msd on april 9th then corning force to get the suspension set up on the 14th.
first race is oulton park on 21st April

Fart of the Purniture
Awesome update
It's nice to have a bunch of good friends you can count on for help when you need it.
Gotta love your car as it's a proper racer, hope all goes well for Oulton Park mate
I'm not normally keen on the RS front spoiler on your bumper but it looks good in that picture, I have one to go on mine but not sure? Why does your look better? (might be the YB behind it!)
