Yep VERY expensive!

 

As someone noticed, the number plate has been changed also…The new plate which spells out 'DROPPED' was bought as a birthday present and the plates themselves were sourced from a company in Northern Ireland.

However, when I received the plated, the rear one was off centre so I got a replacement sent out. FANTASTIC service when I initially ordered the plates (Ordered on friday or thursday and were were on saturday)…not so great when I wanted a replacement as it took around 7 working days to turn up!



Its only very slight but you did notice it on a small plate

Not a fan of dropped cars because I cant help but think of the underside damage but I cant deny that it looks awesome and at least its on bags to help raise it!

Just a quick question tho, i bought some carpro c quartz to do my wheels with a while ago and only just put the stuff on tonight.
Now, i have only used around 1/4 of the small bottle. Have i used enough??
Also once the stuff is in should you only use water to clean the wheels with? I usually use iron x but obv dont want to take the stuff off.

Thats a BIG package!!

 

Thats plenty, I have done around 4 sets of wheels with the same bottle and still have some left over!

You will find you will only need water and a sponge to clean the wheels

Iron x won't really harm it but if used repeatedly will reduce its life, but you will be amazed at how well the dirt comes off with a jet wash!

ah great, i thought i read somewhere that a small bottle will only do 2 sets of wheels. i was trying to be quite liberal with by the end as i thought i didnt put enough on.

good to know about the pressure washer as i use one every time i was the car. i take it that wont blast the stuff off either lol?

is there a kind time limit between washes? as this weather it can be a few weeks between washes. i hate washing wheels lol.

 

You should be able to get more than 2 wheels out of it…I have lol

Definitely be liberal with it…but don't go mad as only the portion of the CQuartz that is touching the wheel is bonding to it, the rest of the top part of it is doing nothing…so thing thinly and evenly

As long as it has adhered correctly, it will be hard to break the stuff down…obviously using strong wheel cleaners and acidic based products will shorten its life, I'm expecting a new set of wheels tomorrow and will be coating with Gtechniq C1 and ExoV2 for around 2 years worth of protection! The CQuartz should see you between 6-12months

No time limit really, most time I left between washes was around 6-8weeks and around 1000miles, came off no bother…jet wash got most of it off, then ran a sponge around to get rid of around 2-3 spots which were left

Sorry for not updating in such a long time!

Inside the packaging was this...





The car actually hasnt been with me since around February/March time hence the lack of updates.

Lets go back to Feb time. I was driving on the motorway when the dash started beeping at me telling me I had a loss of brakes and to pull over, obviously freaked out at this, I immediately pulled into the hard shoulder and slammed the brake pedal as per instructed on the dash. The car had already selected a lower gear to help engine brake the car! Truely impressed! I switched the car off and then on again and it was perfect! No warning light and brakes were perfect! Strange I thought, but as I was in the middle of no where, I proceeded the journey with care and the car never had a problem ever since.

Once I was back home, I booked the car in with Mercedes to diagnose the problem with the brakes and although the problem was a one off occurrence, fault codes were logged in the ECU and indicated the SBC pump was on its way out. Mercedes performed the necessary check on the SBC pump and it was reaching the end of its service life...this is when things were looking harsh on the wallet!

Mercedes actually recalled these units and covered them under warranty as they were prone to going wrong. There was also a recall to provide a solution for another problem with the pump which my car had already been for some time in its past. However, due to my car having non-original brakes, they would not cover me for the part or the labour required to change this part although many people have been able to get their units changed FOC.
The price of the bill would be around £2000.

Obviously not happy with this, I pulled a few strings and got Mercedes to email the headoffice in Germany and told them that its a recall and despite the brakes being non original, they were still off the same Mercedes but just happened to be AMG versions. In the end, they gave me a 50% discount off the total bill which I was more than happy to pay

The car was left with Mercedes with employees taking lots of pics and generally loving the car lol! It came to the date when the car was booked in for fitting, had a call from the technician 'sorry sir, we are showing 1 SBC pump on the shelf but it has gone missing so we will have to order you another one'....great! NOT! So we had to wait 7-days for it to turn up from Germany, and then find another slot to book me in!

Finally the car went in and the brakes felt great!

Luckily a friend of mine was working on the station next to where the CLS was so he was keeping an eye on it!

While the car was away, we changed a few other bits - Lambda sensor, glow plugs and a few other little bits. Big thanks to Sanj for sorting these!!

Dogg…thats Design4automotives or something like that…its a proper E63 AMG as well! Its a wrap on it, with rims and air ride I believe. Not my cup of tea but I guess he's trying to be different thats all…Its a marmite car and I'm torn between liking it, and thinking WTF Lol

@dojj The other Benz is in stealth modus, i guess you only spotted the wheels first

But in some way i like it.

 

I can't fault the car on its dynorod coloured wheels, even the camp wrap is very good, is just not me, but I suppose it gets people talking which is what it's all about

 

I think the wheels are also fluo yellow on the other side i think of the camo one

Got to love slammed merc though, this is m current daily drive until i pic up a W211 next week:

Its really not Wouldn't recommend it to any one! The amount of work we have had to do to get it sitting right is ridiculous
