well started putting the engine loom back in, i did have another one but once laid out i noticed some of the ecu wires had been cut which was no good for what i wanted, so looked at the original one from the fire and there was no damage to it bar water in the fuel relays inside the car, everything else was fine with just a bit of white residue, so just cleaned it off and re fitted it
i need to get the clips that hold the loom into place, dealer dont sell them and the ones ive got dont hold it very well so going to order some different ones next week
but its in, i just have to wire 3 wires for the ayc and abs fuse holder, as i needed to shorten the length of the wires and try and get it all on the distribution block
ive started to upgrade the alt wiring to 4 gauge as well
so some pics
4 gauge going into fusebox
so once that was in it was time to fit the abs pump, with the new ayc relay with it as ive took everything away across the bulkhead, also the bracket was done in a primer grey like most things, i wanted it darker but they didnt have it in powder coaters
wiper motor fitted with wiring as hidden as i could
so then i could fit some brake lines at last
so just need to get more paint to paint the rest of the lines, nd still waiting on stuff from dealer so cant fit anymore just yet
will look into wiring as well again, and get more sound deadening as then the interior loom can go in

little update
fited the fuel tank only to find i have to take it back out again, mission fitting it on your own so ended up scratching it
ayc pump all fitted using stainless bolts, and new bolts rubbers and clips from dealer
fitted engine loom, the one i got had cuts to ecu plugs so wasnt any good to me, so used my original one that i had already done wiring mods too, also battery relocation cable all fitted
all covered in conduit and taped, just need to get more cable tie clips to hold it into place
working out how to do the engine bay power cables, this is what i had to do with two junction boxes, as the cable is so thick i couldnt use it with the ayc fuses, so i linked it off another box
managed to get a heater box and the sound deadening behind the dash, so got all this fitted, as well as sound deadening the rest of the floor and fitted the car loom, i have to make brackets up to hold a black ecu in centre and also brackets to hold the fuse boxes into place, also fitted all the gear linkage back in, once done ill add more sound deadening material to make it a bit quieter inside
ive also had to change the spec of the car to how i want it, but its stuff i can do later on, so im going to use the std fuel lines for now, ive ordered the rest of the fuel lines i need to get the system in place as then the tank can be in and left in, so sanded the fuel lines and cleaned them all up, and applied rust bullett, these will then be primered and painted a bronze colour before fitting
so thats it for now as im still taking a break from the car as other things to do at the mo

well got the fuel lines painted today, couldnt find a bronze so they went gold lol
got them fitted, just waiting on two clips now for bulkhead, and need to get a new fuel filter, and waiting on the rest of the pipes from dealer then fuel system will be finished bar fuel pump, need to find a internal pump that can cope with over 500bhp
the gold lines lol
these were rust bulleted zinc primered painted and laquered
also bolts that have been done up have had a a red stripe put on them, so after its built i can check everything hasnt moved after a few weeks of driving
next is making brackets for dash fuse boxes and tidy loom up inside and do handbrake brackets

not much of an update
my last brake pipe turned up and so did my bottle, so painted that and got all brake pipes fitted, also got dash fusebox mounted, still working on the little one, and started trimming door cards to get them shaped up and fitting, cant trim dash until i have a screen in though and also fitted new throttle cable
new bottle and nuts
all fitted
pipes all fitted, waiting on clips to space some of the pipes even though it dont need it
before and after of lids, and i even tried cleaning the hell of the old lid
throttle cable
and door cards as i ve to bascially make the complete front section, they will over the lap the dash but nothing can be done about this, also they will be screwed into door as clips push them out to far, hopefully the screw wont look out of place and going to use as little as i can

ive decided i hate fibreglass
im still working on the first door card, first i glued the main piece at roughly the angle i wanted, and used fibreglass matting to join the pieces together, then i need to add the front trim, but id thrown the piece away i cut off, so i chopped the front of an e6 card up and got that into poistion and done more trimming, then more fibreglass, it was then strengthened up using two different grades of glass matt, then it was the shaping by using fibreglass from the tin
so some pics
main piece starting to go in
then the e6 front section
glassing
tin glass and shaping
then i test fitted it, downside, its slightly twisted on the e6 part so doesnt clip in, but ill get a longer clip which should sort it, and ill add a screw i think
but then it was the shape becuase they over lap the dash which is a pain, so i tapped the dash up using parcel tape and smacked a load of fibreglass on and shut the door lol, once almost set opened door and was left with the shape
i have a lot of sanding to do lol, but gonna do my best at shaping it, cant get the angle i want to meet the dash but it will do and i think its going to be hard to notice, but will see
so started sanding and this is where im at
just got the part where it meets the a pillar to sort as well, i will admit its fairly heavy at the front but luckily im not bothered about weight saving as its a road car not track, but its getting there

ran out of filler so update lol
as i got bored doing the door card id thought id look at the kit, the varis kit i have just didnt fit the rear at all, so i made a template and filled with expanding foam, big fail it ended up on the floor, this happened twice with 8 cans of foam which isnt cheap lol, so 3rd time lucky i managed to get it how i wanted, so some pics of my frankenstein evo lol
failed attempts of foam
3rd time lucky
getting a rough shape
vents added, these will release the pressure form the air due to how wide the car is going to be
fibreglass added to give it strength while i sand and shape
so once i get some more fibreglass and filler, ill start building it up then get the final shape, luckily my mate is going to help as hes good at this stuff lol so hes gonna get the final shape ready for paint, then ill make a mold of it and produce the part in either carbon or fibreglass ready to bolt on, then will be onto the other side then front wings and bumper, the way im doing it is i can just place it on and if i dont like it ill just get a new wing, bumpers and arches and have the car looking standard lol

time for an update
alls ive been doing is door cards, but so busy doing other stuff i havent had much time
so far the two front door cards are almost done, and also started on the rear
so some pics
filler applied and started final shaping
left this and started on passenger door card, almost the same bar the dash shapes differently so had to mess about more also you will notice ive had to fill the speaker grills up, this is becuase i had to cut to far
getting fibreglass shape
more filler lol
so thats the two front door cards almost finished, im just finishing off the speaker grill on the passenger side, and some final slight shaping, then add the plastic pop clips so it clips into place on the drivers, already done passenger side which ill get a pic later
now the rears lol, they just dont fit, i trimmed etc and nothing was working, so i chopped the middle out of an e6 card and bonded the e8 centre in , this is how it stands at the minute, ill do more on wedsnesday of this on, but the rears will look the same almost, will arm rest part anyhow which is all i needed
also still waiting on my fuel pipes and bits from dealers

Hi mate it's gaz5evo, told you I was on here lol, loving the progress mate and those arches are gonna be crazy.
You may or may not of noticed that I'm not on MLR? I'm taking time away from the car scene for a while.

i just need to replace the one ive smashed, so will still run 9.5x18 but wider tyres
gonna go for slightly wider front wings, cheaper than buying one wing i need lol, and get some madmac rear arches
at the min i need to get these door cards finished, downside is there extremly heavy, so proberbly make molds and do them out of fibreglass, if i can get the mold in onepiece then carbon

ive been busy moving and helping others out, im almost ready to get back on with the car, couple things changed, the evo 9 interior has gone in the bin, i couldnt be bothered to keep sanding filler lol, so an e6 dash bar has been welded back in so all interior will be original now
got my fuel pump and evo 8 rear allloy arms which will give me a slightly wider track and lowers the shock mount a bit, just need bushes and bolts and stuff can start to be bolted up rolling

i got the cable and connectors off ebay, zero gauge amp cable and earth, battery tray off ebay though im changing it as i dont like it, and the connectors are from polevolt
interior was getting there, but thinking ahead it wouldnt work out due to ibrations and eventually the dash cracking hence its in the bin
cossie is under cover where its sat since january, cant do anything until evo is out my garage, hence the evo is just going to get back to together how it was, as then the rest of it is all bolt on parts i can do lateron, at least ill still have the car to use, i just want it out the garage before winter so the cossie can go in and start being built

when u get a tray get one that screws onto the outside, mine was inside and battery never sat right plus it was a strap instead of a clamp, it held ok but im changing it to something more secure

Hi mate ive got the bits now to relocate the battery to the boot.Ive got 4 gauge power cable and them black boxes to mount the power cables to.What did you do with the earths that went to the battery when it was in the engine bay?did you bolt the earths to the body work instead?
#198
i used zero gauge cable for the battery location
but yes the earths just bolt to the chassis of the car and your new earth will go chassis to battery in boot
you could get a junction box and have your erths go to that that thn one large cable to chasis
will update the thread with some pics over weekend
