Aubergine Series 2 Resto/Project
So early last year I went to look at buying an engine for my sport (was a freshly built cvh with a few bits n bobs with it), in the corner sat his black series 2 looking rather sorry for itself.
The engine was built to go back in the guys s2 but he said he lost interest after the rust started hitting hard n he was going to scrap the shell as it was too far gone for him
After a good look over it the deal was done....(nice little project...I thought)
The day I was picking it up was the day a decided I would try and chop my fingers off and cut through 90% of my nerves/tendons in my fingers
So a couple weeks on (i got it)

Here's where the stripping started to see exactly what it was going to need, so out came the interior
We moved on from there to have a look at the front end.
Then the decision was made, wings, cross member front panel etc so went onto removing everything
...how many of you have ever found this in your sills??
Yup expanding foam

Finally it was time a look at the roof
After another weekend went by the boys were back around to help strip out the roof and laugh at my misfortune
As expected, totally bolloxed
also looked like the sunroof had had it aswell so out that came aswell
I dont exactly want a sunroof anyway (as its another place which will leak lol) so now im in two minds whether to have a carbon roof fitted or have it plated strengthened and skimmed

As the cars currently stripped im just going through tidying bits up starting with the loom, running new wires where needed n removing where not!
The car was running MFI but i plan on eventually converting it over to EFI so iv decided to make the MFI loom completely separate to the rest of the loom
This is the MFI side of the loom, it now has about 8-9 connectors so its plug and play to remove from the rest of the car loom.
Will add the pics of it all re-wrapped and looking a lot neater later

Here are some of the shots from when the car got picked back up after being stripped (mainly to get it out of the great weather we had an put it inside) also gave us a chance to have a decent look underneath
and a couple of the rear arches
also had the sunroof tray removed as it was massively foooked
Hopefully work starts properly on it in a couple of weeks so will have all up to date pics
have loads of other bits still to do to the rest of the bits though

Done a bit of 'tarting' on the fuel tank
Gave it a good look over before and seemed all good
once it was cleaned down to remove the crud etc, gave it a coat of 'red oxide'
And finished it off with a coat of black 'Hammerite'

Just a small update
Had the rear light seals turn up yesterday and the calipers all dried and ready to go back together.
The update on the actual shell - the inner sills have been cut out n being prepped for the new ones to go on, will post pics hopefully in the week
