Foxxie Focus ST170(ish)

It a big coincidence that we have both ended up here lol, and your Corolla sounded nice. I've owned my ST for just over 5 years now, which is a personal record for me.
When I first bought my 170 I set my heart on getting a powerworks supercharger, I put away a few pounds in the bank, and I've still not managed to get one . I also spent sometime talking with a German racing team that raced the ST in the ETCC, and also managed to chat with some of the drivers, but sadly nobody was able to give me any real photos of what was done, or any plans or specs for both the chassis or engine
I do still enjoy driving my Focus, and it still makes me smile on my way home from work

That's a shame mate. A supercharged ST170 would be rather epic. JamieFYD reviewed a supercharged focus a year or so ago. It was a 2.0 zebec originally so there might be some similarities in the work required. Could be worthwhile having a look at the vid on youtube to see if the owners details are on there.

Well I'm off work this weekend, but cannot break the habit of waking up early for work, so by about 8am I'm bored. But this morning, it was a little wet, but the roads lent themselves to being driven on. Engage (mature lol) hoon mode.

It's near Wareham, along a back road, and thank you, the car is actually really dirty on the outside, as it's just impossible to keep clean atm.

I do like the st170 in blue like yours, I might even swap my black car for one later in the year.
If you really want a supercharger then you might have to dig a bit deeper and get the kit from TTS Performance which should fit on a ST without too much trouble. I thought the price was a bit steep but looking at the price of used units from a VW golf which are similar its not so bad after all and that's the problem a turbo install would be half the price.

That sounds really good, very free revving engine. The drive looked so smooth and composed. Pity about the shiet weather and potholes though.

You really must get the battery charged up and "get out and drive" is the saying. It's something I've not done for a long time due to work and home life. But I've kind of fallen back in love with my ST.

Well today I came down to find there was a tiny drop of oil on the drivers side car mat, so I assume it's the brake seal, we will look at that also on Thursday when I get it into the workshop.
One thing I did try out today was a new small steam cleaner I bought in Robert Dyas for Ł16.99 (Beldray Handheld Steam Cleaner), I had no high hopes for the cleaner, but I tried it on my wheels and it did shift a lot of brake dust, so I was happy.

That's the back wheel done

Well on the 14th of this month (January) I put in 4.17 gallons of Esso Supreme+ and despite my association with B.P. fuel, I actually found my car went really well on it. Low down pulls in 3rd gear were actually really nice, and the car felt so smooth under acceleration.
I've done a few 2nd and 3rd pulls, and a bit of back road bashing, and the ST has managed to average 26.6 mpg, which again I'm pretty impressed with.
I think next on my list is lambda sensor, cat, and maybe something else

Hi
Well I thought I would make a start and post up my project thread.
My plans for the ST170 aren't that grand, I just want to get her "Foxxie" 100% right, and then I will look into performance modifications.
So firstly a little background on the car.
I bought the car through a garage near to where I live in Dorset on the 24/10/2012, and they had bought the car from Manheim Auctions. Foxxie has covered 117,000 and had 3 owners, the first was Ford Motor Company Ltd. Foxxie was built on the 13/06/2002 and was then registered on the 25/07/2002.
The paint is Capri Blue, and the interior is Waffle / Midnight Black. She is the series 15 fitted with a 2.0L Zetec VVT (170ps) engine.
When I bought the car I knew it came with a few faults, hense the bargin price but seeing as I work at a Ford dealership I thought I would bite the bullet and make a start.
The list of faults with the car are:
2 x Front tyres low on tread,
Exhaust blowing at the front and back.
Oil leak,
Coolant leak,
Screen washer bottle leak,
CD's stuck in the player,
Dipstick housing corroded,
General lack of love...

Not mine, but another Focus we had into work today. I still hear people say these Mk1's don't suffer from rust.
Work in progress.

Not much of an update, other than to say avoid pot holes! I've managed to hit 3 in the last few months, and all with some force. I've had a few components changed, but still had a slight wheel wobble when turning from left to right at speed.
So yesterday (Friday) I had it checked out at work, and it turns out my front wheels aren't round any more lol.
So a fair few wheels weights later, and all is pretty much 99% perfect.
This may explain why my front tyre has been loosing psi, so either I'm going to have to find some nice second hand wheels, or look at my options.

Well I took my ST out for a morning hoon, and it's a lot better now, although the list of jobs for this season are pretty crazy and expensive.
1. Cat back exhaust (possible side exit),
2. Replace Cat,
3. 2 x lambda sensor,
4. Timing belt (kit)
A couple of grands worth :/
But here's a picture from this morning to make me smile.
Cooling down.

Well after my morning run (in the car), I thought I would treat it to a pre-clean dust, I've yet to do the carpets, then I will give it a deep clean, in all the little cracks and corners etc.
It's the first time in a few months that my BAD ear ache has allowed me to go out, although I still had my hood up. Roll on warmer days yay

Well another week, and a few more miles put on the ST170. This morning I was up early and out and about, doing some back lane driving, and basically enjoying my car more.

So not much of an update, but whilst I was out today I spotted this, and had to have it. I don't normally have an air freshener in the car, as some of the cleaning products I use are scented. I just hope it doesn't make me want an ice cream when I next go out for a drive.

Another thing I've been doing lately is having a couple of these in the car. I'm always getting in and out whilst it's raining, and hopefully these help slow down the rusting process
