Cars looking awesome Mike!

I'm going to say it now - RIP 3rd gear

Also why do you need an external swirl pot? Unless you are tracking the car I was under the impression the standard intank pot was fine? I've certainly had no issues all the years my car has been running the same power as yours?

Thanks!

I have been warned about the box though I am going to fit an AP 6 paddle and hydro conversion and drop the AB07 cam in and go back to Karl for a map tweak, 400 and a broken box here we come

The tank is aftermarket with metal swirl pot, I've read lots about them surging so was going to play it safe a fit a swirl pot.

Also if I simply replace the std pump ill have to cut the original connectors off and fit ring terminals

Would the nut once welded on the arm screw into the slave rod to connect?

Karl modded Marks tank and fitted a swirl pot of his own design inside it. really neat job! Probably more expensive than putting one under the car though.

The slave rod locator can be something simple like the head off a M10, 12 cap bolt

Yeah probably.....think I'll run it for now as it's never surged yet. No point in fixing something that's not broke.

I'm thinking that the problems lie with the aftermarket pattern tanks with no swirl pot inside at all

Mine surged when on track with a pattern part tank so it depends what your going to use it for. Was annoying because I could of probably got the original repaired but a couple of tank refurbers asked at the time said it would be more cost effective to but a new one.

I binned my original Ford one a couple of winters ago from and aftermarket one with a metal swirl pot. It's been absolutely fine, no different at all from the Ford tank.

Ah ok, I'll have to wait and see what happens then, I'd like to fit one anyway as I'll be going 044 pump

Well that's it for another year, all tucked up this morning, winter wheels on and fuel drained.

Plans for next year, AP's are going on with a Reyland kit, new branded tyres, wheel refurb and maybe a SECS monitor, roll on the summer !

I swapped my original ford tank with the large plastic surge tank and fitted a newer aftermarket one with a metal surge tank. My car was running 500bhp and the tank fed a 044. Never ever had surge with the genuine tank. I only changed it as I aero quipped the new one. First drive from work to home it surged like fuck. Had to fit a swirl pot in the system to cure it

have you drained your petrol tank before storing away? I thought it was advisable to fill it right up which is what I have done in order to prevent condensation causing rust to the tank.

I've left about a litre in it as it'll go off.

If it was in a sealed Jerry can fuel can last forever. So I'll brim it with fresh Vpower in April.

Not heard of the tank corroding before though there are a million theory's on the best way to store a car, suppose it's just what your comfortable with or what works for you

If exposed to atmosphere I would agree. I know it definitely smells different after a few month

If it's in a metal jerry can, it should be safe for at least a year
