Repaired the damaged thread for one of the power stering pipes using a helicoil kit....

Cleaned the expansion tank, tried all sorts, but shingle and water followed by about 2 hours of vigorous shaking then a blast in the dishwasher finally sorted it....

Nice job mate, I changed the header tank on my 5 year old ST, couldn't beleive how grubby it had got in such a short space of time. I tried all sorts to clean it, anything solid wouldn't have worked as there is little chambers inside it.

I know what you mean, there are sort of baffles and chambers in mine, it was a bit like playing some frustrating 3d puzzle trying to get all the shingle out again! lol

Thanks, getting there slowly, on a really tight budget though, so its being drip fed at the moment. hoping to get some suspension installed and the fluids in so I can have it running again in the spring. If I had the money I would do much more, but its a bit of an austerity project! lol

Currently checking over, cleaning up and lubricating the front callipers. Was going to rebuild them but I plan on fitting ST150 callipers and discs later in the year. I'm also undecided on whether to fit the larger style rear drums or go for a disk conversion.

The car should be back on its wheels next week and the engine running the following week (fingers crossed)

Got the new front struts, but found the top weights and top cap nuts were different. got around this by buying some new nuts from ford.
