cars dog shit...

was never lacquered as it was only rattle canned on.

I drove over to Telford today to buy it as it has supposedly got a 2.3 engine in, bullshit man.

I get there after a long day to find its a 2.0 pmsl

Lad who built and sold it is a bit of a billy bullshitter.

I bought it anyway for a lot less than I originally offered, but I had known it was 2.0 I would have not even wanted it.

Also how did you check it wasn't a 2.3? Some sort of cc test in the cylinders or can you tell by the smaller easier details as I know you've built a shit load of these engines lol

You can tell just by looking pal from a few different ways.

Shells gone, I sold it before I had even collected it as I didn't want the car.

In all fairness it's a genuine, fairly good condition mk5 rs2000 shell so I'd pay for it. Even if it does look like the hulk's pissed on it

I'm the proud owner of a lime green RS2000 😊 looking through this thread, I'm glad I didn't have to do all that work. A little disappointed with the paint finish but I'll sort it.

Yeah, it's a shame really. The metallic lacquer that's mentioned looks like the car was sat too close to something else that was being sprayed. It's a really uneven spray job with a huge patch on the drivers side where it looks like they've sprayed too long. I'll be sanding down and spraying again, Keeping the RS green. I must admit, it was a great find and the love that must have gone into restoring it is inspired.

It's my favourite colour on a car I've been looking to get for 20 years. When I first saw it I could only see the bonnet and a headlight. My sister tried to talk me out of it so I told her "if it's not EXACTLY what I'm looking for (which was a MK5 3dr escort) then I'll leave it" but it was so much more. I do need someone to look over it to see exactly what it needs but I'm determined to get it back on the road. Unfortunately, when I got it, there was no engine or gearbox and a few other bits. I'm just glad I was there to save it 😊
