200sx drift car
#note, allot is copy n paste so timeline might be out#
A couple of guys on my recent thread about my 200 said I should put a build thread up...so here it is.
Not everyone will know but I used to own a nice 2wd saff with a turbo systems 500bhp engine.
Had it for 10 years!
Sold it on as tbh the cash it ate up compared to the fun I was having in it didn't match...
Here's a pic
Times move on and I wish they had sooner as its always been about the driving as apposed to kudos for owning the fastest whatever...
So change of direction and bought a 200sx for around 2k...with the intention of getting it how I wanted as cheaply as possible(that isn't going to happen).
s reg
fmic
exhaust
strut brace
tubular manifold
filter
83000 miles
1950 quid purchase price
as i bought it
rear lights and spoiler removed..
(lights sold on the bay for 55 quid!) standard lights came with car..
seat fitted..
hydro handbrake fitted..
turbo elbow, downpipe and braided lines fitted..
flowers gearknob bought then swapped for nismo..
boost guage and holder..
roof, bonnet, boot painted black by mate for price of paint..
first outing..
wheels painted for free, rim stripes 6 quid of the bay n tyres for free of my mate..
steering wheel fitted

i got these for a low price for helping my mate break and sell parts from his r32 gtr.
the paint is a candy blue sorta colour,i had plans to change that but my brother thinks they look good like that,i'm not so sure.

little update..
thought about puting the 10j wheel on the front and going 12j with a 50mm overfender on the rear but after puting the 10j on the front i decided against it.
two reasons.. money! and the 10j was very tight on the front without doing the inner arch.
so its staying the way it is, but with 25mm spacers on the 9j fronts to go with the 25mm spacers on the 10j rears.
kit is now fitted and sealed except for the rear bumper which tore off on the last drift day when a tyre blew out, thats now ziptied and screwed back on but not sealed.
took grinder to the bonnet too, alla phils old s14a,,grinding discs are cheaper than a carbon bonnet!!
btcc front splitter now secured, removed the rear wiper and blanked the holes also(much neater if you ask me).
headlight is with a friend at the moment who is making me a carbon intake, thats why its missing.

hate the wand where it is so its getting moved, here is where its going...
will need to make up a new mounting for it on the floor but it should give me much better leverage.
then powder coat it and some lizard skin grip tape.

i'm trying to get more big wheels not less!!!
updates are a set of 25mm spacers on the front and the new wand mounted on my side of the tunnel(pics to come).
a couple of pics from saturday at crail, although great photos they have made me get the finger out to take the fmic off to give it a good clean and polish, new connections and clips.....
check out thackos website for more pics!
turbo gasket went AGAIN!GRRRR
it got new studs, nuts, foldy clip bits and gasket ..all tight and perfect but still blew!

intercooler was looking sorry for itself so i took it off and gave it a clean up,came up pretty good considering the nic it was in(check previous pics).
test fitted the tow hook too, happy so far with that..
main reason to be happy
got the first test headlight/air intake sample in fibreglass.
needed a little bit of fetling that my mate will sort out before i have it made out of carbon fibre.
going to change the shape of the hole to follow the line of the inside more and extend that part back 50mm or so.
the outer part will look the same tho.
if anyone is interested in a carbon or fibrglass headlight air intake, let me know as my mate said he might make more if anyone was interested.
he may even do them for other cars if enough interest:thumbs:
bare in mind the finnished carbon will be 10x better than the test one i have at the moment...
pics of that will follow!

little update, got a rear centre panel off ebay.
want to smooth over the nissan badge and paint over the reverse lights to give it a cleaner look.
just got it so in the process of doing it...
new wand plumbed in! cant wait to try it out:wack:
the headlight vent should be up to final test fit... before the carbon one is made up(this weekend).
its looking truely awesome!
cant wait to fit the final product.
in the near future he is making up a sealed carbon airbox that fits directly to the back of the headlight vent.
better hurry him along as he has been offered a 6 month contract as mech/bodywork guy in a world sidecar team
sad for me,happy for him
he says he will make up 4 for the s14a to begin with, they will be in the region of 150 if you want to register an interest:thumbs::thumbs:
photos hopefully up over weekend....

got another test headlight off my mate, fitting and looking much better but the gell coat not 100% yet so this one will probably get rubbed down-painted and sold.
gives an idea off how it will look tho and where the pipe to the carbon airbox will connect on the back...

I've been doing a bit of messing about with carbon legs I've made myself but not 100% on bgw's...
Want it like this as I think having the gt style front bumper it might be able to carry it off...
Lots of tweaking(and cuting down a bit) to be done so no flaming!

Picked up the front bumper this morning..the guys worked wonders to put it back together!
Top half black and the splitted is lacquered...
I've just sat it all in place for these picks but I'm attaching it with aerocatches...

Well if you had stuck to the cossie you would not have been sticking bits of fiberglass panels back together lol.
Have you seen shaine's maxxis s14 ?

Mask when cutting to avoid the edges chipping.
There solid!
I need a spare bootlid then I'm fitting it all up...the wing I have at the moment is actualy plastic but it's merely so I can mess around when fitting it all up.
If I like it I'll buy a super wide c-west jobie...
