Escort mk3
There must be a couple of mad scientists here who can help me out. 
A recently came across a near mint condition '80 Escort mk3 with a flimsy 1,1 Valencia engine and as i have a way of doing i bought the car well knowing that the engine had sung its last song. The guy who i bought it from had run it on unleaded fuel for waaaay to long an so the valveguides where shot to hell.
The idea was to use it as a daily driver but i'm thinking of doing an engine swap instead of fixing the old one....my problem is that i got a bit confused as to what engine and gearbox combination i could pop in it without any rewirering or moving of engine mounts.
Any ideas?

Thanks mate....in theory you can pop a twelve cylinder Merlin in it
I was thinking more in line of: Does it have to be a OHV engine to fit the exsiting engine mounts or does an CVH fit...and what about gerbox?
