Had the day off on Wednesday so took a drive up to Brands as the weather was nice. Shame I didn't have a proper camera and tripod with me. Car is going away on Friday to my mates to have the wheels powder coated and the following week my mate is detailing her Will get some better pics then.

Right............
The standard turbo has been smoking for a while and the car has been feeling underpowered so I decided to bite the bullet and fork out for a Hybrid from John FRS. His work and service are second to none!
Anyway, while waiting on the turbo I decided to see what a wheel colour change would look like. I don't like it
I then had a bright idea that the bay should be tidied up along with a load of other bits ready for Ford Fair.
Bumper off:
In this next pic, you can see the AC canister and pipe work in the o/s/f arch. This has now been removed back to the bulk head to save on a shed load of weight, space for an oil cooler and the lack of summer to actually warrant having it.
When I removed the AC rad, I decided the standard rad could do with upgrading to something a bit beefier So I got on the phone to Auto Specialists who sent me out one their Airtec Pro series black aluminium rads on next day delivery. The core is almost twice the size at 45mm compared to the standard 25mm!!
Also the fan cowling and water pipe were proper tatty and showing signs of it sitting at the front of the car for the past 10 years so I whipped the fans out, prepped and painted with hammerite hammered black to give it a bit more protection from the elements.
And after the paint
The intercooler and crash bar have also started showing signs of taking a weathering so they came off for a clean, prep and paint.
The standard gearbox mount looked shagged and has been noticeably different since I changed the standard engine mount for a VT one, so I ordered the same for the gearbox
So... a couple of days later, these all turn up Molly trying to get in the pic lol.
New turbo vs Old
So, that night I was outside with the tools with Daz fitting it all up
New rad with freshened up fan cowling
Lastly for the day was to change the strut top mounts and bearings on the front coilovers as they were fooked!
Still need to fit the non AC auxilary belt, freshly painted boost pipes, Scan Gauge mount, prime the turbo, fill with coolant, wait for the bumper and splitter back from paint and and the car is going away for a full geo setup
There's probably more but if you've stayed awake long enough to read this bit, thankyou

Len you need to get right on yours mate. I love getting stuck in with this.

Hi mate. Here's the link to the rad on their site http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/AIR...oduct-920.html. The lower locating tabs on the fan cowling need an 8mm hole drilled because they bolt onto the Airtec rad at the bottom instead of pushing into the clips. Everything else fits up as normal, hope that helps.

Just a quick update.
Gave the car a full check over before Ford Fair and then sent it off to my mate Tom to have a full detail for 3 days.
To say his work is great is an understatement!!
Anyway, got to the camp site on saturday early evening and set up my empire
The main part of Ford Fair, I got not one pic taken
Done the 9.20, 10.20 and 11.20 track sessions without fault! The car was absolutely brilliant apart from not feeling great in some corners. We only realised at the end of the day that we hadn't adjusted tyre pressures. DOH!!
Here's my vid of the 11.20 session that my mate Daz has done tonight:
Unfortunately the car developed a blow 5 minutes from home.
A couple of fellas in a mk5 ZS took a few pics on the M25 that i'm over the moon with
And a short vid they done
Last night me and my mate Daz finally got round to looking at why it was blowing and found that 3 of the 4 turbo to manifold nuts had gone missing
After 4 new nuts and spring washers, the world is now a better place
Just need to spend Saturday with the snow foam and cleaning gear getting it ready for Retro Rides on Sunday.

The car needed a few bits of tidying up over the winter so at the end of last month she went into the bodyshop to have a couple of bits sorted and we decided to go ahead with something we spoke about toward the end of last year
I decided to do this
Which now looks like this 8-)
Got a few more bits to be done over the next couple of weeks but i'm over the moon

It's Porsche Grey Black, the same that's used on the 2010 GT3 RS

What air filter were you running with the old turbo? Quite a bit of damage to the compressor wheel blades.
Good work on the project, love those steering wheels. I fitted the same wheel in my old evo 6, makes the car feel much nicer. The standard RS wheel is pretty rank looking too.
