So did he give you the money back for the track day??
I'm sorry but his weak excuse does not carry water with me. IF what he says is true, then he should of given you a heads up well before yesterday. Instead it was no news, then right at the deadline he told you.
This is not the first bad thing I have heard about GR Performance. Plus in a thread earlier from things you said it was quite clear his mapping skills are not exactly the best in the industry. IMO you are paying him to learn on your engine. Then when it goes pop, you know it won't be his fault. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Take this as a warning people, do not take your car to GR!

He's been more than helpfull in this way regarding it,
He is also my mate and neither of us want to fall out with each other,
The time attack seson has just started and tbh time attack race cars were more important to get fonished than my car for a track day hence the outcum,
Dont get me wrong i am tired of waiting... But if i was a general customer i wouldnt of been put to the back of the cue as i was (again maybe not the best idea havingfriends do work on your own cars)
As for mapping ive never said hes not experienced,
My car is the first ford hes done yes,
But mapping is mapping, its on a dta s60 which garry is very familiar with,
His mapping skills are as good as any top tuners out there, he was the man behind the 180 mph tigra a few years back,
Hes mapped and built jonny fletchers time attack astra, that also won totb handling,
He has a history of many many big power evos and scoobys as they are his speciality, and altho be unknown to general public he has actually done alot of mapping / fabrication on bc suspension time attack scooby and also lateral performance scooby,
He's also got a few cars hes built and mapped in the mlr spring series,
They dont all show gr performance stickers but he's still the man that did the work,
So tho i have had a bad experience, (mainly i belive cause were Friends) he is a top bloke and does know his stuff.. Just because mine was the first big power ford doesnt make me a guineapig, mapping is mapping..
And engine i built and ive been building engines for over 12 years and love my fords, the engine built propperly,
If somthing happens during mapping and it goes bang from det or lean then there is no doubt in my mind garry would pay for it repairing.
Its pretty easy to spot if its gone bang from incorrect mapping,

It seems to me he is mugging you off a bit because he can, never a good sign!
I have said this before. You are pushing the engine to it's limit, tolerances are fine. Take it to the best. GR are not the best.

shame it's not ready, but working with friends does tend to being overly sympathetic.
if he is good, then worth the wait, i'm sure he wouldn't want to bodge it, just make it clear you want it doing soon as you've been very patient.
looks the nuts and if i had the heart to break my xr2 i'd be on the phone to buy it from you.

I am in EXACTLY the same situation as you are fella. Really wanted my car done for this weekend to pop to pod in - instead i am moping around the house sulking .
Stick with it mate - it will come good in the end
EDIT: It gets worse - now being dragged shopping - my tuner will pay for this

Matt I'm not saying he is bad, but the OP admits he has not mapped this type of engine before.
Plus look at the poor lads customer service experience.
I just want the best for him

He mapped my engine last time,
545 bhp,
The wall we hit was valve float from MY engine build, this resulted in the head been sent away for a double valve spring conversion to cure it,
As i said mapping is mapping, its only software,
And engine is an engine no matter what make etc,
Plugs are checked frequently, and also a borescope to check valves too,
He's not a full throttle mapper

And i apreciate that you want to see the best for my car,
And i mean that, i do apreciate it.
Most people on here probably are sat waiting for my post saying blocks destroyed itself lol,
I have spoke to karl norris about it, and he's aware of my situation too...

Well whatever path you choose, I hope it reaches its potential safely.
I still urge you to give Karl a whirl. I'm sure after your conversations with him your aware he can do a good job for you

All complete.... YES it. Eeds coilovers for sure lol!
I like the american svt grill... Wasnt sure at first but now i like it
Its all up and running.
Taking it up to 1.5 bar of boost today to compare results from the last time,
Car is still going up for sale anyway,
Anyone genuinly interested in it give me a call
07858502587
Not in a rush so if you have to sell somthing first thats fine,
Got a mag feature booked and a timming day at brunters,
Reason for sale.... 4 kids, work away from home and only get 3 days a week with the family, so honestly havnt got time for this any more as gutted as i am,
But also dont have the money to throw at it like i use to.
Gets serviced every 4k miles or after a track day, no expense ever spared

Hope you get the figures soon for it. Has he been pulled over mapping it with no plate on by the police?? Or has he been lucky so far?

Got a small isue with the car
.....
This is as far as it will go up the drive....
So... Next move...
Any builders have an idea what would be involved to dig out the garden to the side and have a garage to drive straight into off the road? Like under the garden ?

There shiyte tho lol, the blitz runs closed loop so if it spike (for any reason) it shuts boost straight back to spring pressure

Are they ok running above 2 bar then?
Might be an option....
Just use that and hide the ugly display in glove box lol,
Keep the blitz readout on the dash as my boost guage and warining

Dta can control boost but i dont think its closed loop,
Need closed loop really because of how far ive gone with it, 1spike could end it all, so having closed loop to pull the boost back if somthing goes wrong
