i'm glad you like it, i miss the standard tt setup to be honest, was much nicer to drive as it wasn't mental like it is now. still got the reciept for the kit from previous owner and a few other tt related bits of literature (plate is still in engine bay as it happens too).
i was very lucky with mine, needed minor work and only cost me £520 seven years back.

/\ too much power......depends if you're prepared to use it
it is bloody light though when you hit 140mph+ though, only ratio'd to hit 164mph on the limiter and i will only take it there on the strip.

not much has happened in the past couple of months, coilovers definitely need rebuilding and clutch isn't yet gripping well enough, maybe slave cylinder not disengaging enough.

on the plus though, i'm now sitting on 16" rota rims with yoko a539 rubber all round and bought focus rs front brake setup. brakes aren't essential, but got to be a good thing even over the 4wd cosworth ones already fitted.
engine all run in now and peaking at 17.3psi and holding 17psi, very hard punch when it's on power, but still lots left in it to come
i'll get pics of new boots up this week and hopefully new brakes next week fitted once i've made the brackets.

The brackets should bee fairly easy to make out of steel plate, just got to get the spacing right so they sit flat to disc.

well, my callipers, discs and pads have all arrived so i'll be getting on with making the brackets for them.
i took some snaps to show the new discs in my old rims and the discs and callipers sat in my vice.
i'll be taking my hubs off the car and getting on with getting the brackets mocked, then machined to perfection in the next week.

not a chance you can get them in 15" rims, and with a little material removed from the back of the callipers they should just fit in my 16's, will know more tomorrow when i get hub and what not off the car.

had some time so made draft brackets up, thicker ones will be made tomorrow for final fitment

trial of disk and calliper sat in wheel rim:

pic of the finished product with no catching, wheel weights are close though, need refitting closer to the edge really:

and one of the rear of the draft brackets:

(please ignore the crap copper pipe, this will be replaced and callipers repainted)
there is a lot of trimming the calipers back,in places, but perfectly safe.

there you go, another FRS part fitted to a mk2 fiesta
if anyone is interested in 324mm brakes with 4 pots, you need 16" wheels minimum.

Excellent project, we will have to meet up once my mk1 escort gti-r is on the road and have a tear up. I am just at the right end of the m65 (colne).
I fancy fitting my rs2000 16v engine in my xr2, and maybe supercharging it.

sounds like a plan, will be off the road for a couple of months whilst i sort a few odds and sods out on it, been putting off finishing my adjustable suspension geometry for a couple of years, so will get that done at last.

Have a look at my xr2 hillclimb car in the abandoned cars thread, it has a mk1 based double anti roll bar system that i believe is a ford motorsport set up. Also has adjustable tca's and leda suspension that looks as good as it did when fitted 10 yrs ago.
None of this gaz/avo rusty needs rebuilding shite!

lets hope so, it was probably unnecessary as the 278mm ones were fine, but bigger is better in most cases.
made a boo boo though, i bought a couple of sets of calipers so if i made a mistake i could carry on. turns out the other set are fiat ones, which is good as they have the right fitting on rear, just means i need to change the back sections onto the other fronts, otherwise they are identical, good thinking from brembo on that one

all fitted on one side apart from brake line which just needs connecting tomorrow.
old ones:

new ones:

i'd have loved to have the callipers sat more level, but due to size, calliper and hub it was either this or round top where it would have been awkward to work around shocks.
fag paper clearance and still need paint finishing, but that is tomorrows task.
stiffer springs have been ordered for the front and i hope to get gearbox off this week weather depending of course.

bit of a refresher:
i got the brakes finished and all bled up an work really well at speed, barely any difference round town, but i suspect the servo is on it's way out as that has been getting lazier over time. sadly not such an easy swap due to engine mount bracket in the way, but that can be worked around.
engine has developed a little smoke, does it idling sometimes, going on boost, but seems to clear as if it's just my exhaust full of water as it runs down hill for ages-pretty much to the down pipe.
having not run it properly for months it could be that so i'll investigate turbo/plugs to see if it could be a simple misfire instead, just odd it has just started and is a white/very light grey smoke, which doesn't suggest oil, but water/unburned fuel.
also changed front springs to 9" 300lb ones instead, it's really helped settle the suspension and stop the front wheels hitting arches without having to raise the car to the sky.
i will also get round to ripping box off as well this week, as the clutch isn't happy and won't hold more than 17psi without slipping, hopefully as said many times, i reckon it is the clutch cover.

all been on hold really due to waiting the arrival of my little girl, who eventually came last week
hopefully some figures will be produced soon for engine power

high speed run with baby is not on the cards i'm afraid, for so many reasons the wife says :blub:
i did have it idling for a while today and then took it out for a spin, smoke is still here, comes and goes, nothing on the motorway at 70, not much round town, but idling it really comes out. i'm taking turbo off tomorrow and having a good look about it, would be a shame if it's worn, especially as it's a ball bearing item and getting it reconditioned would cost a few quid. i may just replace it with a cheapo t3/4 with similar flow, will just be more laggy and likely to fail sooner.

time to sell any and all spares me thinks, just started driving this again, but we'll see what is the problem.

T04b ball bearing unit, out of warranty now though.
i'm taking it off and get it over to turbo place i got it from tomorrow, only an hour away. see what the score is with it then.
i'm hoping that's all it is though, couldn't stand something being engine internal related, just taxed the car, replacing/repairing turbo would be cheaper than that for sure.
just seems to be a little thrust wear, nothing up and down, so ball bearings are doing their job.

for now i've sorted out a temporary replacement, so will get that fitted on thursday when it arrives.
the current one has quite a big leak, but won't know the extent of the damage till i take the core apart, but no damaged blades at least.
i did discover a crack in the manifold though following one of the welds, due to the rear support snapping, so repaired that now.
box off tomorrow and sort the damn clutch out at last, then bring on some more power

ok to bring this back to the top, i changed the turbo and worked on the map a little not so bad and spools a little earlier.
changed FPR for a 3BAR one as when i looked closely i had only got a 2.7BAR one fitted.
i also changed some settings in ecu to control voltage fluctuations and general signal noise with some modified firmware which has helped filter though some dirty signals. ultimately the loom will be coming out and fully twisted pair/shielded cable will be used where possible.
i've spent some time and got round to making the adjustable TCA's, just one line of weld to do and finish prep for paint as they are a little rough on the eyes. fresh poly bishes are ready to be fitted and will be on the car this week.
clutch was giving some grief, so i got the cover skimmed, this seems to be working well since, only running a BAR, but no slipping, just bedding it back in so will turn up the power in while. if it doesn't hold then i'll just have to give in to buying a new clutch setup.
and a final touch, i spent a fair bit of time and money buying cleaning gear, it's paying off even if it's just putting off the respray a little longer, then it's all worth it.

so without jabbering on here's a couple of pics to keep the topic fresh:

thanks for the comments, wheels are still catching a little, so will be cutting back arches more i think, only on harsh bumps are they a problem though.

child seat would be a laugh, just to see the wife's face, she'd go mental

found out the brakes are too good today, went for a little cruise mapping today, thought i'd see how good the brakes are, roads was a little damp and ended up sliding way too easily, in the dry they are mint though. It may have been a little overkill on road tyres i think, still just have to put a big spring under the brake pedal

after two years or so with the part on the shelf, i have finished my adjustable track control arms
speedy turnaround hey

i will be adjusting pan hard rod out next to pull wheels in line and sort the camber and tracking next week when my alignment gear arrives next week.
that will sort out the handling, far better than it is now with tracking a mile out since altering height back and forth.

Bert on xr2.com does them, not badly process either.
