Well today me and Conor cracked on with 320 wet sanding the shell followed by a wet sand with 800 all by hand. Everyone is amazed at how flat and nice looking the panels have come out considering they are fibreglass. A combination of many, many hours by me in the workshop high building and wet sanding the shell and Marc laying a very high build primer had done wonders.
While we were blocking the shell off, Marc cracked on with painting the lower spoiler, bonnet and both bumpers.
The finish straight out of the gun is pretty good
Then it was off with the wheels so we can get paint properly on all the arch lips etc.
Tried on of Marcs 17x8 ET15 Comps.
And all masked up ready for paint first thing.
So should have a fully painted car by tomorrow night with the doors and tailgate following Friday.

Cheers for the comments guys. For now, weve decided to run it with a plain front bumper (so no bottom splitter or hockey sticks) as I like the clean front end, ambers all round with RS500 fog grills and only the lower boot spoiler. The top spoiler has been painted, but I'm going to run it as a, sort of, wide arched Escort, rather than a Cosworth replica for now and see how I get on I think.

Got a bit of it built up tonight. It's amazing how all the little details make the car look complete, like the bonnet washer jets, side repeaters etc. Still needs lots of tweeking, like front bumper adjusting properly, needs the indicator/fog sections cut out so the indicators fit in the bumper, rear bumper needs new holes drilled in the arch to pick the corners up etc, but it's getting there.
I went to the bodyshop this morning and flatted off the doors, tailgate, mirrors, whaletail and front grill ready for paint tomorrow. Should have them back by the weekend.

Another quick update. I got the tailgate and front grill back form the paintshop. The doors and whaletail wouldn't fit in the van so won't get those till about Thursday now. Anyway, got the tailgate to got the badges and spoiler all fitted up.
Small turbo badging of course as the car is a P plater and they are more subtle.
Lots of pictures.
and front grill with a new new Ford bage and its mesh back in
Tomorrows job will be the loom connections to accept all the MK5 lights and dash etc and setting all the bumpers and panels up properly as they are just thrown on at the moment.

Mate the car looks epic, I just find the wheels look too small. Any plans with them?
