Bit of an update!!
Have been really struggling to get to and work on the car at the moment. Have been manic at work and trying to get a new place to store on work on the fiesta.
I'm trying to get the engine dummy fitted before it goes off to be stripped. I will get updated pix of the car and engine asap.
Here are a few of the parts I have purchased over the last few month.
NOS mk2 rack
NOS fog light
NOS rear lights
No sun roof
Pop plus dash
New 1.4efi injection tank
sender unit
Modified cvh mount
Fiesta centre weld in mount
Clear indicator lenses
NOS boot lock and key

Have thought about a st170. Im planning on getting head work cams 45mm or 48mm jenvey bodies and omex management. Should make a nice revvy lump.
The st170 will use all the same mountings as a blacktop anyway so will see once I've dummy fitted the lump I can make a decision.
What you want the lump for Jamie?

Been looking for a roof for ages for our mk1. Would you be up for a lend to phill at carbon delight so he can make a mould. It wouldn't be damaged in anyway. Rare as rocking horse so understand if it's a no. Great solid base lookin forward to seeing this finished.

I did think about a carbon roof, but as there wasn't anyone making them now, so I didn't really consider it anymore.
When would you need the roof and how long for?

But of an update as it hasn't been done in ages.
Test fitted my mount. I had to open up the holes in on it and i filed it here and there to get it to fit as I wanted.
Pix of my moddified cradle bearer. I had to cut it like this to get it to fit. I havnt seen anyone else mod their cradle like this. You can see where I trimmed my blacktop sump aswell.
A new eBay purchase brand new boot spoiler (still has stud thread protectors on).
A few pix of a trolly I built to hold the car so I can move it in and out the garage and test build it with out having to get it up on axel stands. Worked out cheaper than buying two dollies.
A little update
Removed the mk1 offside engine mount. I also welded up the inner wing where the engine mount had slotted in. I did this as it was not spot welded, also it will be covered by the fiesta centre mount that I will eventually get round to weld in.
The cradle that's been modified to take the mk2 xr2 drive shaft.
Mk6 escort pedal modified to fit the mk2 box
Mk6 escort metal clutch quadrant

Cheers guys
Never done any fabrication before I decided to make the trolly for the car. Was chuffed with how well that and the cradle came out.
Hopefully I may be able to do an update with and engine fitted to the car soon. I only have to weld the offside mk2 fiesta engine mount to the chassis leg and The I can begin dumy fitting the engine and suspension parts. Then off to the blasters!!

10K+ Poster!!
Just read this thread. Looks like a great little car, seems like you had a great base to start with, is it easy getting parts for them then? You seem to be gathering quite a few bits for them, do ford still stock bits or is it just autojumbles and ebay?

Yes it was a good base, one of the best out there as xr2's go but unfortunately it wasnt fully up to my standard.
The mk1 fiesta is ok to get parts for. Ive got some from ford (there is a thread on mk1 fiesta forum stating the ford part numbers and whether they are still available). I also search eBay and go on various forums swell.

Look what turned up in the post from Andrew at ALD. Top work Andrew.
Also got a rear beam off of a mk2 xr2 from a mate. I need the rear brake setup to run the mk2 hand brake.

Cheer for the comments
Went down to the garage today and thought I'd get the fiesta out.
Decided to weld the drivers side mk2 fiesta centre mount into place. I took some measurements from a mates mk2 fiesta so I got the correct position. Excuse the welds they need a tidy up. I just needed the mount in to dummy fit the engine when I get time.
A few pix of the car on the trolly/dolly I made.

Update time!!
It's been a while due to me buying a house with a garage and making it more liveable. Also where the car was before was getting more and more difficult to get the car in and out, due to people storing more and more crap in the garage.
Now it's at mine I hope to crack on with it and keep regular updates coming
So the cars been move over to my place. First time i5 properly moved in 2 years.
Also I brought a set of five pots. They have been full re fur bed with new centre caps
Check the bargain spot lights with the mk 4 on the box.

Regarding the adjustable rear beam, Andrew was selling a discounted self weld kit on xrtwo forum. Not sure if it's still on there but maybe worth a search.

Update! Easter bank holiday weekends work.
Back on the trolly
Stripped
Fitted the gear box.
I wasn't happy with how the modified gear box mount i bought fitted. Also had to drill and tap a couple of holes in the box.
Decided to test fit the engine. One of the cam pullies clashed with the fiest centre mount. Took a bit of material off of the mount.
Engine sitting in the bay on it own. Just need to test fit all the ancillaries.
