Default focus saloon project

not going to be anything fancy just a bit of a tidy up and sell on job

i bought it today 25/9/10 from a car auctions, it was getting towards the end and they were going cheap and this focus saloon rolled in, full mot 4 months tax and great bodywork and despite the high milage (150,000) it is a mint runner
its the 2.0l 16v twincam zetec ghia model with all the electrics including air conditioning, its a 1999 on a t plate and has a towbar with full electrics
anyway heres some pics (more tommorow after ive polished it)

plans are
paint mirror cap and put back on
repaint front bumper (had a dodgy respray in the past)
de-rust and repaint the boot
get new center caps for the wheels
and give it a wash

Done some more today
Restored one of the headlights and sanded the bumper ready for repaint tommorow also took some more pics of the whole car

some of the bad bits then
boot

center caps

dodgy paint on bumper

now on to the headlights
good one

bad one

so to restore them i sanded them down with 1200 grit wet and dry untill they turn from yellow to clear

then they turn dull

then polish them up and wax them so they are clear, job done

then on to the bumper
before( not clear but the paint is really bad, theres no shine and theres grease spots all over it
before

after ready for paint tomorrow

on to the engine bay
before

after (not a huge difference but its now clean)

and an arty shot

and a couple of pics to end the day( excuse my brother and the chav mobile in the background)

comments welcome

update time
de rusted and painted the boot today and i think it came out rather well exept for a couple of runs but nothing that cant be sorted
so masked up and rust sanded off and treated to stop-rust

then first coat of paint

second coat

third coat

clear cote then finished
reflection shot

then masking tape off

join between the painted area and the origional paint

peoples badge back on and numberplate

also decided i would flat and polish the bumper i painted yesterday and i think that also went well for rattle cans lol

some reflection

and a nice one

As good as the paintjob turned out ... you fixed that:

WITHOUT taking the trim off? Come on ... all the rust is behind that thing. And i can still read "focus" through the new paint
Keep it going!

yeah should be some profit actually has full mot and thought it has 150,000 it feels like it has 15,000 on it runs absolutely spot on and it has had a load of parts for the mot which cost £1200 all together from the last owner so i got it for half the price of the parts its had lol
