you can't use subs as normal speakers?!

they are sub-bass they aren't made to produce HFs...
and you used 2x 12" subs without an amp... so just powered from the radio?...

and that edge active sub isn't great... that's halfords cheap stuff, sorry but that wouldn't add up to quality audio, i hate people who say i've got a "well good" sound system, and all you can hear is boooomm boooom, for me and im sure other people would agree, it's quality of the music not how loud and bassy you can get it!

imo you should have kept the rover, standard and had the alloys on it.

We all have to start somewhere..and tbh looking at the rover seem'd you made progress but i think you've had enough time to realise that what your doing is dangerously wrong!..

The amount of corners cut is unreal and no amout of sunstripes, skirts etc will be able to save you once (and i really do hope it doesnt) make the road..

Default new piccy's of escort

Got a new set of alloys today, the bloke swapped these alloys and a PSP consol for my Rs2000's not bad eh. I know no1 will like them but needed some 17's to fill the gap a little more 215-40-17. 1 has a good tyre other 3 have wear on the inside and 2 of them have a puncture, still a good deal to say i onlky paid £80for the Rs2000's
But cant fit them yet as wheel the studs arnt long enough so need a set of longer wheel nuts.

see what i mean ^^^^^^^^^^^^

Removed front and rear struts earlier and getting some complete, 35mm drop springs off someone tomorrow, gonna do a straight swap for the PSP i got in the sale for the wheels so id say thats a pretty good deal.

the new spring are red but they are used so gonna give them a lick of red spray paint along with the calipers and drums before fitting them and the brakes will really stand out with the new wheels.
New wish bones to be fitted soon aswell along with good quality Poly (orange) front and rear anti rollbar bushes then thats it save and sound with improved handeling and less body roll

the back box was origionally fitted to a toyota yaris thats why it has various other hangers on but made a new mounting bracket by opening out a U bolt and gave it a quick weld and now its mounted perfectly. (did this with the cherry bomb on the corsa and that passed its MOt no probs I know the weld is a little messy but its on propily and doesn't leak and will clean up with grinder some other time.
No need to comment on saying the exhust will be loud because it isnt, a little growl and thats it, disapointlingly quiet TBH but gonna leave as is. its on and safe, sounds ok what more couldi ask for.

Leave comments let me know what you think of the Escort so far, dont be to mean

Thanks

looks like you will start to make good progress now that your concentrating on what matters first by sorting wishbones and bushes as the others say though get it running right first before you start modding the outside and you say the arches are just surface rust yes maybe youl get away with not changing the nearside arche but the offside is shagged mine didnt look that bad on the same shape escort and when i tided it up to remove the rust it dissapeared if you look at this in the right way this could be a good first car for you when you do pass your test best of luck

Try These for arch repairs.

Looking at your photos with the new 17" Wheels - from the angle shown - these wheels look like a different Stud Pattern and Offset to the type you need. TBH - you shouldnt have to fit longer wheel studs with aftermarket wheels. What Car did they come off?

Looks to me like the centre hole is too small hence them not even touching the hub/brake drum???

look like the black 17s are off a peugeot citroen which usually require a 20mm spacer but some aftermarket wheels inc wolfrace have them built in to the offset and have the larger centre hub hole

old wheels were v rare and suited it, should of kept them and fitted wide arches....! new ones look gash imo also should of replaced the rear arch with a new one as it would of been easier, keep pics cumin

btw by pics you cant use those wheels! your center hub is too big and the inner of the wheel diamiter is too small! you cant use longer bolts and have the wheel not in the center of the hub as it will wobble and come off, trust me. Only way to use those wheels is to get the centers lathed.

No the centre hole is plenty big enough it fits on with loads of room to spare when i took the pic ijust hung thewheel on the hub thats all its just the centre of the wheel is quite thick so wheel nuts dont reach the studs
And yes i know i probily shouldnt have swapped them rs2000's, think i regret it now tbh

Oh Yeah,
cant really tell the difference withe the car sitting on these shitters
but it is defo a 30mm drop, can tell from gap between arches when car is flat on ground. In thepic it is still jacked up

Finally got round to painting some components today and still alot more to come including: All 3 other corners, Rocker cover, battery cover, strut mounts and aload more bits and bobs tomake it stand out.it wont all be red, blue also and the wheels will be white wheni find a way of fitting them

Just wish i had a garage to work in as its getting f**king freezing now when it gets past 6pm then to op it off it gets dark at 7pm now, Autum,
and Winter does my f**king head in

if it has loads of room to spare, you will need spigots inside there... otherwise you will have NO STUDS eventually.

you also have a multi-stud pattern set of wheels, and they aren't probably made for the offset on your car, so won't fit probably.

Looked ok on the RS wheels, those black ones look awful.

MK6 can look really nice with some subtle bits on it, and you can pick bits up for them really cheap these days.

Keep an eye on ebay and you'd find bits actually meant for the car, rather than bodging exhausts together and things. Or, instead of spending money on modifying the car, fix the clutch and get it roadworthy! No point spending money modifying a car that doesn't even work! A clutch kit is only about £30 off ebay, just get one bought and get it sorted, then worry about wheels and things.

If the car is roadworthy, maybe you could get someone to go out with you and practice a bit more. If you've failed a couple of times, a bit more practice wouldn't hurt by the sounds of it

What a F*king PLANK!

Kiddo, why dont you listen to the lads that have been giving you advice. their advice is sound.

Like many people on this forum, i have restored a car. An RS turbo, that cost me about £1,000 to make it road worthy. thats before modding it!!!!

To be honest, you are chucking a shed load of money at a crappy bottom spec 5DR MK6 Escort. keep it standard. When you have been driving for a few years, then get into the modding scene. cause honestly i dont think you'll get insured on the MK6 Escort you are working on, if you do we'll all know you haven't declared the mods.

If you crash it and the old bill come round, you'll be in deep sh*t and insurance will tell you to bugger off!

Thats a point have you had an insurance quote yet??

Being an 18 year old bloke i think it will cost you over £2k to insure that??

The placement student at my work has a p reg 1200 corsa bag o shite. Hes 19 with a years NCB and still pays £1600.

I know lots of people will tell you it wont be that expensive and that they insured a cossie for 600 when they were 18 but i just dont believe them

Honestly mate, get a quote!
