Thanks matey.
Heres a couple of videos, first 1 is the yellow decker:

Also the blue decker we are currently working on, I decided to take it for a blast round the yard. Its not bad considering its been stood in a field for over 5 years:

There also various other videos we have put up of our other deckers and new warehouse if you click on the next videos.

There is 6 of us in on the unit and buses.
We pay for everything out of our own pockets and yes its a strain at times but well worth it.
We usually try and organise people to join us when going to shows and ask for a donation towards the cost of fuel, its usually only Ł5-Ł10 a head.
We went to Duxford last year with our Scania decker.
The fuel bill was Ł500 but the bus won best 1980's decker in its class

I really dont know what the rules are regarding driving trucks on a car licence.
Have you had a browse through the direct gov website?
I know it tells you what the rules and regs are for driving buses so there maybe a section for trucks.
Cheers.

We actually bought 2 buses from them a couple of months ago.
There is a Sunderland Busways Atlantean and a Sunderland Busways Daimler Fleetline both which are running the same Alexander bodies.
There is also a Tyne and Wear PTE Atlantean which was new to South Shields which we have recently bought.

I've always wondered, with the newer buses and with air con and abs it must be a lot hrader to restore these than the Nationals and Metrobus etc?
MCW Metrobus
Do you and your mates work for a bus company?

Aye we have 2 Metrobuses.
We did have a 3rd but that was purely used as a donor vehicle and sent for scrap a couple of weeks ago.
2 of the lads work for Stagecoach, 1 is a driver the other a fitter.
I much prefer the Atlantean to the Metrobus mind!

hi,
ive just registered on here to reply to this thread mainly.
i was driving past south shields town hall yesterday and saw an atlantean coming the other way and turning down crossgate. was too much traffic to check the reg out to see if i remembered it from when i was a bairn. it had number 1 and private i think (something like that anyway) on the destination screen.
was class seeing one again. and good to see some being restored. there always used to be a couple in a yard in sunderland between the queen alex and the wear bridge.
and there was also one in the stagecoach depot until a short while back.
they are well cool busses like. remember getting them to school when i was younger.

This is something really different from all of the other restoration threads on here. Great work, and good on you for all the hard work and money spent (especially if it's out of your own pockets).

Assuming you passed your car test prior to 1997 and have C1 on your licence, you can drive a tractor unit, providing the unit itself weighs no more than 7.5t, more than 7.5t and you'll need class C. It's only when you hitch up a trailer that you need C+E...

Cool thread, i quite like an old bus.
That Allways scania recovery truck though, thats just offended my retinas, what a god damned hideous looking truck.
I always remember our school bus, i used to love it as it had a massive center exit exhaust and made a hell of a racket.
