It won't take 5 mins to cut it off the ghia and bang it on. How's the V5 hunt going? I've got a few days off next week to finish it.

Had one too many last night so made a later than planned start today.
Managed to swap over the looms today. Fitted the horns, coil, header tank, washer bottle.
Put most of the body kit on plus the bumpers and grille, but I ran out of rivets! I thought 40 would be enough. The series one must be held together entirely of the things!
Hoping to get the engine in tomorrow!

It was all already done. All I've done really is bolt it together lol. The comps do look good on it. Just ordered a new double black pin stripe for the sides and a new gloss black XR3 decal.

Well I wanted the engine in but failed. The forklift has died and I was called into work at 2 so didn't get much done. I built the 1.6 back up, new stem seals, headgasket, new rocker cover, all cleaned, cambelt etc and fitted my front lowering springs
Then struck a deal with a 2.0 Zetec making all that time and money pointless Nevermind though. A good 130BHP will be more than enought for this little car.
And it turns out I really do need some lowering springs on the back
And a side veiw just cos it looks good

Chers Sam. You sold the Series 2 then after all that work?
Tell em about it. Kayaba shocks, standard springs and 8 x 17's makes for a high ride If I cant find any cheap springs ill bet the grinder out

Right lads, need soem help, who ever has done a 2.0 conversion on a MK3.
So far I've bought;
2.0 Zetec engine which comes with Mondeo engine loom, 130PS XR3 TILE ECU, 1.8 flywheel, injector rail and a FRST inlet manifold.
I have in my shed;
A Fiesta RS1800 inlet manifold with injectors and rail
A Fiesta RS1800 exhaust maniold
I know I need to buy a 1.8 sump, pick up pipe and water pump.
And for fueling you can use an RS Turbo or XR3i fuel tank, pump and lines is this correct?
Now things I need to know;
Would it be better to use a 2.0 EXT PATS ECU such as a DESK, DEWY or DEEP
I know I'll need to get a 2.0 MAF is using a 2.0 ECU
Can I use a BC box and clutch with a 1.8 zetec flywheel or will I need to use a FRST items?
Can I use my CVH engine mount?
With wiring can I just break down the engine loom into all the sensors I need then just connect to the battery like a Cossie management conversion?
Has anyone got any wiring diagrams?
Anything else I need to know?

Muz would it not be easier to wire in a Fiesta Si engine loom and run with a DEEP, DESK or DEWY ECU, the RS1800 inlet and the 2.0 MAF the same as a Fiesta conversion would be rather than try and break down the Mondeo loom ?
I've got a pickup pipe and sump but its on the 2.0 bottom end in the garage and I'm trying to sort the running issues on my 2.0 Si at the moment so I wont be able to get the parts off anytime soon

Cheers Dave. I think the tank I'm using now is an XR3i tank, and I have my old lines here somewhere (I think) so just need an RST pump.
I'm assuming the rear mount is much the same as a ZVH/ZT conversion, cut the corner off where it catches and weld a new bolt hole on.
Dont suppose you have any rear springs kicking about? As you can see it looks like I'm doing the Dakar Rally in it

I have thought about following the same route as the Fiesta conversion. The loom would still require breaking down though as it doesn't "join" to the Escort Carb loom anywhere. So would still need relays, lives and earths sorting out? I sold you my RS1800 cheap as well. That would have soted all my problems now
Sadly it has moved on again and is no longer with me

Thanks Dave. Yeah that is a 130 spec ECU. I won't be able to use my ECU I dont think as it will probably have internal PATS. The early XR3i's had NO PATS IIRC but I think they had external EDIS so you have to use the right loom. I'll look out for an early DEEP, DEWY or DESK ECU and Fiesta SI wiring look I think and make a relay/fuse box.
