There was not a lot to srip out was there mart . How long will this one be gone for this time and have you made your mind up 100% on the colour
There was more than you'd think. Danny says 3 weeks and he knows my expectations are high, I don't want a repeat of the Jacko incident! My wife knows what this car means to me and thinks I'm barmy to have it done so far away but I've assured her its going to be ok this time. I'm 98% sure its going to be the original colour.
Martin how far is Danny from you, is it up north way? in talks with him about paint on the 106.
Danny isn't local to me by any means! But I'm prepared (like most) to travel to get a good job. I'd be happy to take your car to Dannys but let's see how my car turns out first, Danny knows this is potentially a double edged sword.
Just one thing mart can you put some skinny rears on it please so i can get up in the arches??
The car will be with me 3 weeks as promised maybe less but im not promising less!!lol
Robert im down south mate by gatwick..
cheers danny
Danny, I won't hold you to the 3 weeks but I do need it back rapido but not at the expense of not enough time taken on the job to make it right. Great minds think alike on the rear wheels.
Martins car will have to be the same quality as that paint job youve seen.
That mk2 is to die for!!
Mart nothing will be rushed because i will start on it the monday after you drop it of so i know i will have enough time in 3 weeks to give you wha your expecting..

Cant beleive how solid that car looks Danny no pressure ehh! im sure after the jacko situation you would never put yourself in the same position as him so im sure it will look mint mind keep pics up when its away from martin
Danny knows the deal, we spoke on pm before I gave him the job. I agree that I'm a difficult customer as I used to do all my own paint and know what's what.

Agreed mate, anyone with a lot of experience at paint tends to end up with a really good eye that the rest of us dont have, I'd be quite happy with an average paint job that you would send back im sure, as Ive never been a bodywork expert and im sure I never will be.

I am sure it will look amazing in the end, nice to see something a little different as well

Yor bang on about that chip. i started as a saturday boy at my local vauxhall dealer in the body shop at 14 then when i left schol i did my apprenticeship at a big body shop and left when the owner had cancer and sold it and went back to vauxhall for a few years and I can see things in or about the paint a mile off that most people i know cant see, My mate bought a bmw5 series not long ago in silver and i could tell him which panels had neeb painted from about 10 metres away lol. I suppose its all about what your tought and what you have an inyterest in, its all in the prep and folow up really.but its experience that gets you results. I think it will come out just fine and martins worries will be put behind him, Afterall once bitten twice shy
Martin, how come your not using the painter that did the 500 second time around?
I would happily use the guy as he's local and has done a good job on my Sierra, the only problem is he's not the fastest (has two speeds - slow and stop) and he's yet to finish the Sierra, bumpers and arches still need painting.
Backed off coil overs and put loads of weight in the boot to weigh it down to check if any tyre fouling is likely to happen, all good
Front coil overs..
Gearbox x member is going to get in the way of the exhaust so new mount made...
Stripped the underseal off the rear inner arches to see if anything is being hidden and all good except for thin metal on arch returns on front of rear arches..
No rust here...
Everything got stripped off...
Like the steel Sierra wheels? lol.
Its at Dannys now, he knows what he has to do.

Just read the whole thread on this after speaking to you about the cosmo and have to say that this definitely has to be on my list of favorite cars in your garage.
Very nice motor indeed.
