ok i bought this of shandz on here, its not an RS but ive sort of embraced a name for it n call it an RS170 lol
right well when i got the car off shandz it was basically like this...

it was runing a ST170 engine on GSXR TB's and gotech managment,
it was an awsome buy imo and i love it,
now for the things ive changed
since owning it now for a fair few weeks, ive spent near on £1.5k on it

ive had new rack
new ARB and bottom arms and bushes all round,
2 new shocks on the rear
new tires all round, (AVON ZZ3's)
new brakes (EBC disks and yellow stuff pads)
also when i bought this it was runing absoloutly DOG RICH!! and i mean really bad,
in places it was runing high 8's and low 9;s!!!!!
so went out and remapped it and leaned it off and it went loads better, absoloutly fantastic, then the next day didnt quite feel same, stuck wideband up its jacksy again and it was runing RICH AGAIN!!!!! fuck knows why as the map was still as we wrote it and the ambient temps were roughly same tbh,
anyway next step was the expensive bit,
ripped out the Gotech and slung it into the garage, and fitted a DTA S60 pro,
got it runing 2 maps now, map 1 no VVT and runing from a 14.8 AFR tick over up to 12.9 on full chat, and that alone is quicker than it was with the gotech !!
then map 2 has VVT coming in at 2500rpm and AFR ranging from 14.8 up to 12.5 on full chat,
the limiter has been set at 7200 as above this it doesnt feel to be making power so no point revving it silly high like i had to with the gotech,
all in all its a propper little sleeper now,
it runs out of mot next month and i have alredy got a new scuttle pannel and bonnet for it to fit and then a full paint job, and re sticker with propper RS1600i stickers, and then she'll be straight back on the road,
the only body mods i have done are a single wiper conversion,
there a bit marmite choice but i always like old skool motors with this mod,

and i will keep the thread updated when i come to the mini resto part

had a misshap today on track and its oil surged and picked up on a bearing,
jus got home now and i think am guna sell it,
am propper gutted,
it will only want a set of bearings, it doesnt nock when its ticking over, only under load,
ive listed it on piston heads,
see what happens

jus got home now and i think am guna sell it,

found a wrote off mondeo 2L in a scrappy near buy, engine starts and runs and sounds fine
(blacktop zetec)
i am having the engine from it for £120 and going to fit this and then change the head for the ST one,
but the car will still be uop for sale duing and after the work

can you do me a bit of an experiment? Can you do two full throttle pulls from 1000rpm to the limiter, one with the vvt on all the time (85 degrees), and one with it off (145 degrees), and post the datalogs? That way we can plot the approx power curve, and see what effect the VVT has.

only thing i can tell u at min tho,
is without VVT (obvious it has less talk) it revs freely till 8k +
with VVT on it drops off power at about 6k and no point trying to rev it any harder

Sorry to hear this, shame as it had so much potential.
Cant u just put a set of shells in it and get the sump baffled???
