No not yet, hes due over as a small list has been building over the weeks with new parts we need.

I keep forgetting how "exciting" it is, I guess ive been laying under the bloody thing for so long im too immune to appreciate it?

I take I you havnt seen my aston martin restoration, check out the engine rebuild, that was scary

New clutch (LUX/genuine audi), master and slave cylinder for the tt were £250 which I thought was reasonable, considering audi would want about £1200 to do the job!!!

Was a pain in the arse, as my work shop is taken buy the cossie, so had to resort to ramps, used winch as i had no clutch.lol

welded up the clutch pedal as they are renound for snapping on the rod clip as audi never did a full weld!, so thought i may as well do it while it was out.

There are loads of pics on the job but I wont bore you, have saved them for the hairdressers on the tt forum. The gearbox and 4x4 transfer box on the tt are as heavy as my landrover with 1/3 of the room to work in.lol

Yeh, you need a Jeremy Beadle hand to do it easily. It amazes me how tight they make things there is litterally no room for a spanner anywhere!

Funny you should say that the last 24 hours have been rather busy!!!!

It feels a bit like christmas, unwrapping lots of shiny things. If only my real presents were as good as this.

rear beam mounts

Powerflex state all bushes can be installed simply buy hand with no press or special machienary required. Dont listen to them its bollocks! If they seriously thinks these bloody things can be pushed in buy hand then id like to see them try!

You will need a vice, hydro clamps, 10 ton press and lots and lots of this

Heres my helper, shes abig girl and not even half size yet!

Lots of lovley genuine goodies to go on

been a bit busy with the engine

New cam belt and tensioner

The old clutch was not too bad but showing signs of wear

new clutch

new thrust bearing

cover plate

not got the engine crane here, but my landy saved the day

more powder coated goodies

finally engines back in.

Sorting and cleaning the loom

looking nice now

excuse the dust and finger prints, will polish it all at the end

look at that tank

not long now

There wont be a next time.

My restorations are usually body off/bare shell. So they can be turned over. Wont be doing one "in situ" again pain in the arse!

got some more pics will upload later.

Fitting new wheel bearings, and refurbing the koni shocks and carrying on with engine today

Hi Lee,
Just read thru the project, what an awesome amount of work gone into this. Your quality of work and attention to detail is a credit to you and definitely give me inspiration to get working on my car, if i could get a finish nearly 25% as good as this then i will be a happy man!
Loving the worlds fastest trike
Shame to hear about you RSi If i wasn't about to start sorting my Orion then i would defo snap it up shame your getting bell ends trying to knock you down on what obviously is an awesome piece of ford! Good luck on that front. By the looks of it we won't have to wait long to see the fruits of your labour all the best,
Gav.

Thanks mate. Rsi is now sold for a very very cheap £2000! Money is already gone on a new clutch. master and slave cylinder on my wifes TT (only bought the car 2 weeks ago) the rest of the money im spending on my landrover as it needs new disks, pads, shocks, springs, service, exhaust......(I will be carrying on with my landrover resto thread if anyone would like to see this soon)

Well seeing the light at the end of the transmision tunnel under the car where ive been crawling around in grease and shiot for the last 2 months
We had a lovley rocker cover ready powder coated and fully polished BUT has an oil breather/swirl hole in it so not ideal for now, so we have agreed to use the original cover untill a nice one can be found. Getting the paint off was an arse ache

My wife offered some help as she does from time to time so this was an ideal job
Well I guess its now time to disclose the colour theme. This is where I get unconfortable as up untill now everything has been stock (except the moonsotone paint). But Black is my favorite colour, I couldnt visualise it when we set up the build brief but it is fast growing on me.

Nice cosmetic to go on

chromed stainless ummmm

Please dont look to much as its not finished, turbo etc

Rad cleaned and tidied

Started motor refinished

braided hoses

Extra thanks to my dad who helped my get the new bearings in using his press, good for 100,00 miles now

more powder coated goodness

drive shafts assembeled

rear shocks refinished

ARB and springs in

Fronts (if anyone wants to know the koni colour code it will cost you)

I'll be back

Tap and Die on all the threads to remove any stray powder coating or paint and also to make sure incorrect torque readings dont happen

Still a fair bit to do but went for a psychological run and got it looking like a cossie again

check out the air dam

The OMP strut brace in powder

New bumper clips

Brake lines in, drive shafts

Aim today is to get her running and torque the essentials, then its just a quick tidy up, detailing on nuts and bolts, new tyres on the new wheels, and fit the brakes

Yeh ive done the back half in matt black, but still need to do the front. Just need to get some high temp paint.

There is lots of detailing still to do!

As said I went for a psychological and got the bulk of it done, got it looking like a cossie again, get it running. Then its the home straight!

Nope, nice cars (were talking replica here tho right) I probably wouldnt go for the 427 tho, I think the original cobra the 289 is far more beautiful, would look sooo nice parked next to the Aston.

Anyway thats not the car!

Got to finish my beetle first and ive also bought another beetle! lol. also my landrover needs about £2000 throwing at it on suspension and brakes!

He came round yesterday to drop off some some final parts for the build.

Was under a transit van when he turned up changing the flywheel and clutch, so didnt think to offer a cuppa, bit rude of me opps.

Yeh hes happy. Its always a fine line to decide how far to take things and how long to spend on things. As sadly there is money involved. If I tell you my series one took me 3.5 years, you can imagine the detail involved and well the labour bill would be someting like £15k

The car looks 100 times better than before. Hope to have it done and on the road buy wednesday!
