2.0 silvertop escort gti?????
Hi people, I have a 97 escort gti that is burning oil as fast as it is fuel! im looking into dropping a 2.0 silvertop mondy lump into it, Does anyone know if the engine mounting point on the 2.0 block is the same as my current 1800? also im running a collins powerchip and wondered if i could use my standard JEST ecu because ive only just purchased the chip. I was thinking of using the rail and injectors from the donor 2.0 aswell. If any one can be of any help it would be really appreciated. Also if any one in manchester area has a mondeo engine please get in touch if you have a price in mind, Thanks guys!

Gonna need to re-route the Aux belt as the water pump on the 2.0 runs the other way .. I remember a 1.8 - 2.0 conversion guide on another forum I use .. See if I can find it for ya mate ..
EDIT From what I remember ... You will need to use the 1.8 sump as well ... Mess about with sorting a few wires for the ECM .. Will find that guide mate if I can ..

you need to use a 1.8 water pump off ur engine as well as the alternater bracket and pas one , sump , inlet manifold exhust manifold, your need 2.0 injecters and maf and ecu , depending on if your car has internal or external pas imobuliser (spelling) could meen ecu chocie or wiring mods, if its external then its easy ur just need a 2.0 DEEP DESK OR DEWY ecu hope thats some help ,also put the flywheel and clutch from your engine on to the 2.0, iv done loads of fiesta and a mk4 escort but no mk5 /6 ones

MK5/6 is pretty easy to swap. I cheated and bought mine already converted though
You need the Escort water pump, sump and oil pick up. Use the flywheel and clutch from your car (though if you have a cheap pattern clutch, don't expect it to last, if I try to launch my car, it smells very bad!), then use all the Escort ancilleries, exhaust, inlet and all the PAS/alternator gubbins. Fit a 2.0 TB to the Escort inlet, the 115PS and 2.0 MAFs are the same, so don't worry about that.
Swapping ECUs is pretty easy on a MK6, you just need to switch a few wires around and then fit the appropriate Mondeo ECU. Mine runs a DESK one. If you need a guide, let me know and I'll find one up for you. It only took me about 30 minutes to re-wire it.
Definately worthwhile though, makes it much more like a GTI!
