Thanks for the comments people. Had a good day yesterday at pod regardless and got some motivation back.
Good to meet you Dave your car looked cool as ever and I had a little nosey at the new cooler setup which fits perfect on your car.
Jamie, I didn't meet you but had a decent look at your car and fair play to you it is stunning. The paint work is so bright! Loved it all.

Update;
Took the turbo off this morning and had it collected by CR Turbos for inspection. I should hear back from them tomorrow or Wednesday.
The car is back up my unit now where I mainly work on it. Towed it up there this afternoon.
Here are some pics I took showing off the roof finished. Really pleased with how it turned out. Would recommend it to anyone whos thinking about it.
I bought this tidy looking bit of kit at the show from auto specialists as my existing one was well past its use by date.
Might fit this later.
Sooo, once I get a solution on the turbo front and get that back I plan to fit it all back up and run it up. I want to use a 'proper' gauge to then check oil pressure as I am convinced the gauge in the car is reading incorrect and I want to confirm this before doing anything else.
I am confident that oil pressure will be good and I will then replace the gauge
I then plan to renew the cam and am 90% sure I will opt for the newmans one and suffer the tappet set up ball ache.
Paint wise:
I need to get a bit done in the engine bay where my old air filter used to rub and has bare metalled a part.
Paint the bonnet vents white.
While we're at it I think i'll remove the stainless heat shield on my bumper by the exhaust I don't know why I didn't do this the last time we painted the bumper as I never liked it!
Having looked at Jamie's and Twins smoothed front panels on their cars yesterday I think I may have to do mine little bit of welding, filler and paint and its job done.
Ideally I want to get this done in the next couple of weeks.
Then I think that will do for a bit.
I may take the car back to Mark if he has time, to check the map with the new cam and, potentially, new turbo to make sure its working at its optimum.
Then do a couple of RWYB's and see how it gets on.
Longer time plans;
I plan to cut out the rear wheel well and plate this over as there is rot in there and I don't need it.
At the same time as doing this I think it would be time to fully strip the interior and get the indoors painted.
I would quite like to remove the S1 kit and revert it back to the S2 one. This would then mean painting both sides again.
Underside resto is often in my mind and I know its not a great deal of effort or expense to achieve but I think doing this would put me off driving it...unless I just did it all black?
At the end of the day the car is what it is, the shell is solid but it will never be concours and nor do I want it to be as I would never use it which for me, defeats why I have spent time on this car.
That'll do.

The turbo is on its way back and is arriving at some point today following a strip down to find the cause of the seizure!
Basically the bearings were damaged and what they think caused the damage was sand...sand used in the sandblasting process used to clean the casings during remanufacture. Said its very rare to see but have checked everything and given it a polish before fitting the new bearings and re-assembly. They are confident its brand new again and no other damage has been caused.
They are sending me back the old bearings too so will get some pics up when they arrive.
I've also got a msd magnetic sump bung on its way down. Should really have got one of these before as the benefit is obvious. Spooky...Door just went, postie with the said bung on recorded! I ordered this less than 24 hours ago. MSD are the next day specialists
Also, I have ordered a new camshaft from Matt Lewis Motorsport. I went for the newmans cvh turbo cam and their solid lifters.
So, within the next couple of days will have a few new parts arriving ready to fit but before that and while the cooler, rad and turbo are out the way I think the body work above will be getting sorted, which could take a week I reckon.
I can't weld or paint so this will be outsourced. Probably Saturday Loz is going to cut the plates and then weld them into the top of the front panel ready to be filled and then painted. He is going to shape them to size and weld round them rather than just welding a plate over the top so that less filler will be required and so less chance of cracking longer term.
Once this is done its ready for Pete to get in there again to fill and paint.
Will post up some pics as and when this progresses.

Did a bit this morning.
I take zero credit for this as Loz did it all while I supervised/ QC'd! but I helped him paint his new garage floor first
Front panel is now welded up and ready for a skim of filler tomorrow to smooth it all out. Then paint.
A few pics
Hour or so and job was a gud'un!

Dave, where did you move it to? I used yours as reference but didn't notice! Mind you could be too late now, loz has taken the welding gear off site and painters been briefed and helping himself tomorrow as I've buggered off fishing!
Ps your smoothness inspired this
Edit to add, just looked again at your pics. You have nothing on the panel bar the catch. Where did you put the chassis plate? Do I need in on even?

Hi mate looking good pal, and at least they did not try a get out of replacing the turbo and as for the vin plate you can mount it more or less where you want with in reason, think dave has put his on one of the strut tops near the battary or fuse box's iirc, i have had a new vin plate made which is a sticker like whats on the new cars so it can be put in one of the door shuts, but i have never got around to fitting it lol, but i think a vehicle needs one by law.

Cool. thanks for that. I'll get mine moved somewhere else then.
Loz just texted and confirmed he'll weld that up in the morning before the painters in. Top man!!

Cheers guys. Do it Matt
Just painted the front panel. Will do the rest tomorrow. Got a little bit to do in the bay where the old air filter rubbed the inner wing. Do the bonnet vents and a small repair and blow in on the rear bumper where I have removed the old stainless exhaust heat shield held on by 2 screws.

Got the rest of the painting done today. Only a couple of annoying bits that wanted doing. Will de-mask it tomorrow and then move the car ready to start getting on with the mechanical stuff.
Bumper primed up. Used fibreglass to fill the two holes which the old heat shield used to fix to.
Flatted back
Painted
How annoying was this little bit to mask off. Caused by the old filter rubbing.

Cheers Jamie.
Moved her this morning. Back on the rope lol!
Got her on the ramp and whipped the sump off to check all is well and retrieve the missing piece of rocker arm which wasn't found. Found it
Didn't do anything else as it was too hot.

Spent most the day on it today.
While the sump was off the other day we checked the mains and a couple showed some scoring so to be on the safe side ordered up a fresh set of acl hd +.25's
So today we changed the mains and basically bolted her all back together and it's running.
Also, fitted the fuel pump bracket and new oil pressure gauge and turbo oil feed filter.
Wrapped the new starter as this was getting too hot and fitted the chassis plate to it's new home!
Tomorrow I plan to put a few miles on her and then get her back in to replace the cam before heading back the MAD for (hopefully) the final map tweaks on the new cam just in time for classic. Fingers crossed!
Pics to follow.

Back on it again now. Had a couple of weeks off
Took the old piper 285t2 out today to make way for the newmans replacement.
I didn't fit the piper and had no idea how old it was. I'm no expert but it didn't look in terrible shape!

Later this week if time allows but got to do some gardening tomorrow. Place looks a mess!
Then it's run cam in, drop the oil and try and get it up to mark for a map tweak. Then...do a few miles and hope she don't break and will make classic for some fun runs!

Ha yeah, its pretty quick, just doesn't last very long at the moment. Blew it up again this weekend at bugfest or bugjam or whatever the show was at santapod
I'm just off to the postoffice now. Got a card through for something which didn't have enough postage on it so i'm guessing this is it will let you know. Thanks again!
