hi i have a 3door rally car shell that i have had for many it was on irish plates when first reg jxi **** and then changed to d** rvu.
was told when i brought it that the engine and running gear had been taken out and put in a escort.has loads of period features -large alloy fuel filler on passenger side rear qtr, full cage,909 topmounts, dash looks the same as works cars fuse box on passenger side dash, navigator alloy foot rest, alloy fabricated fuel tank cover with cut out for spare wheel, gearbox tunnel has removeable section for getting at top of box and it looks like the picture on that logbook but was white with blue stipes at the rear going into full blue, arches where blue and bonnet vents.
had rac scruteneers stickers on windows but are faded i think one had 1991 on.
any help?????

if your thinking of rallying this then junk the 3.9 now, been there done that, they just bog too much mate on any event ive been on, 4.1 is the min, 4.4 is real nice.

i'll try and put some pics up of my old 3dr for you.

ive used various boxes in my rally cosworths and always use close ratios, long ratios are no good in a rally car, ideally you want 1st gear to be mid to high 2.?:1 and direct 5th gear, all the rest spaced between.

the T5 is not a bad box for its cost, espcially if your using a 4.44,

good luck

nice car mate! how did you get on with it in the forests as ive read that they werent that competitive alot better on the tarmac!!does the 4.4 diff not make 1st gear useless with a standard box. obviously with a high first on a close ratio it would be ok

whilsta good laugh in the forest, and great learning experiance, a 2wd turbo car is not ever going to be the winning car, trust me, ive lost 10 second in 200 yds up hill before today on a stage start, we eventually converted it to 4wd, and never lost that 10 secs ever again.

if your using a t5, the 1st is something like 2,9:1 though not great, far from MT75 territory of 3.5?:1, so still usable, though not the worst.

i would still say 4.44, theres not alot of tar that calls for more than 130ish flat out for very long, but its not the tope speed its about the closeness off the gearchange, and also getting away at chicanes without lag, the 3.9: was really bad for coming out of tight bales etc, you either waited for the boost, or, clutched it, neither was good, the 4.44's sorted that, but on the larger venues was allowed to use ALS as well, but not anymore, pretty much only forests now.

collins car is done by Quickies motorsport. My mate i do some work for has a bodyshop, and he paints all Quickies and Collins cars. Phil Collins has a ascona 2.9 vauxhall atm for forest historic, and a mk2escort red one with a millington.

Quickies motorsport is a great place, ive walked round there a few times perving at all the cars. They also do Ellsmoores tesco 99 suburu and a few others. Also has a nice old carrera 4s int here

Hi there, I think i might have the sister car to yours, looks like yours is the first evolution as it has a bolt in cage, i have the second evo as they removed the bolt in cage and replaced it with a welded in cage as you can check the to chassis rails go all the way from the front to the back, Just trying to find the id of the car but has been confirmed that is is a rare RHD full works boreham group A shell

Hi Neil,

Are you selling the car, shell, bits & bobs etc? I'm just starting a full rebuild on a 3 door ex-works rally car...it's quite well known with loads of history, do you have anything for sale???
