Right i havnt updated this thread for ages but to be honest until now ive just been enjoying some trouble free driving.
All ive done recently is changed the rear beam bushes for poly items and fitted a rear strut brace.
It seems now though this has turned into a real resto
whilst i was driving down a local main road which at the time had jus been re surfaced i managed to pick up a few stone chips, well not a few ive done the bonnet, front bumper & both front wings.....
i was dropping some money off to my plumber 2 weeks ago as he was down the pub, i knew the road was stoney but had no idea what it would do to the paint as i was only doing 10mph with a 20mph speed limit.
i didnt even notice the damage until the next day when i popped up the garage with kitchen devil and i atchualy nearly cried
There was a few bits i wasnt happy about with the car like dents here an there and lots off small scratches so ive decided to get the whole car painted
going to get a fella a few miles up the road from me who comes highly recomended by lots of people and has also just done a stunning job on kitchen devils saph
the work started this evening after work as i started stripping the interior out to check the floor etc ( wish i hadnt though )
pic to follow

as fot the rust yeah have seen a few go there, I wouldnt worry to much as it will be just the outer skin thats gone, at a guess it must be a water trap but cant think how the water gets in

when tup the garage for a few hours with dave ( rolling rides ) an put in a few more hours of distruction
managed to get the front bumper off with only the off side bracket braking up, also got all the door rubbers off, rear quarter outside plastics, plastic roof things.
Also attempted the fuel filler surround but failed, also the spoiler and rear bumper which i also failed to do as all the fixings where well rusted up, i squirted these with wd40 and will try again tomorrow
also want to kit the kit of tommorrow although im not looking forwar to that

Unfortunately captain, it isn't cheap but look at it this way, if you spend the wonga doing it right first time, you won't be doing it again.
Just a shame I did spend the wonga but still ended up having to get lots redone and sorted!!
Yours will be good when it's done!

was simple things like headlight alignment etc. but the biggest shock was on the brake tester the mot guy was pushing hard on the pedal and the front pas goodridge hose burst! had a look and the braid must have been rubbing on something as it was all frayed and burst right through! good thing it happned on the rollers and not on the road. but yeh so that mot was aborted
bought some compbrake 300mm 4pots and braided lines off luca now so all good

All looks so familiar had the same on mine, once you have done the repair on the tunnel get underneath and squirt shit loads of wax oil in the elongated slots that the gear box mount brackets bolt to so it pours out all the edges make sure that the wax oil is hot and runny dilute it down if necessary, it's prone to rusting here because the water gets trapped between the two skins of metal.
also with the seat mounts mine only looked superficial until I started to pick away at it and turned out to be rotten right through to the little bracket welded to the underside of the floor-pan, I striped up all the sound deadening to my horror and found this little lot
Drivers seat fixing point

I like the sound of the that, I know your a perfectionist.
Last time you came round I remember talking about doing underside.
One you have done the underside you will not want to drive it incase it gets dirty, thats what happened to me with the S1.
