what do you think caused the reaction??

 

it must of been the previous paint from when the floor was still in the sierra as i only ever use 2 pack paint ,at least it did it now & not when i put the 2 pack paint on

 

I had the same happen to me on my focos in 2 places pist me off big time still it can be sorted looking good Andy wots next on the list

 

going to bare metal the effected area then restone guard the area get some 2 pack white primer & some radiant red & get the engine bay & full floor pan in some shiney paint then prep & paint interior ,bur Richie has got me thinking again on what colour to do it metallic grey or black (ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME).

 

I would do the inside black to match the outside

 

must say i have read this thread from start to finish and i am amazed at the pure skill and ingenuity that has gone into this beautiful car, i am a big fan of the older generation fords and older cars for all over but to see the amount of passion that has gone into this 1 example is purely stunning.

also i agree with whizzisat paint the insides black that would look beautiful rather than maybe an after thought with the grey

A suggestion for color: Paint it dark grey / or BMW carbon grey inside, under and outside. And then copy the Zakspeed car stickers from the car you have on your page. It will then be more fresh than black.. I think.

small update i got one of my ally engine mounts back from tig welding & i got to say it looks mint ,im well happy.






all gusseted & strapped just like the original group A 909 ones.

as 4 the reaction use barcoat b4 u stone guard or prime it!
i always use it on old/projects its great stuff

glad you like it Jay as for barscoat thats a blast from the past but i only got a small bit so its easier to strip it ,besides that it means i can use my 5" grinder again to strip it off with the knotted wire wheel

 

was it gravitex you used andy its always best to do a dry coat and leave with that stuff as it always eats in to old paint work iv found that out over the years ,if not il mind me bussines lol, sure its sorted anyway

otherwise when you play with ritchies car he will pop out for a piss and come back to find a few piles of metal on the floor

small update i stripped the reacted area down to bare metal ,etch primed & stone guarded it this morning
And this evening i sprayed the engine bay with 2 pack high build primer








im working tomorrow so i will crack on with prepping the interior sunday

 

looking good andy just needs lots of billet parts now lol
