I'm guessing you'll want them posted if you're in Scotland

skirts
yeah sounds fair the car hasn't been mot'd yet but i am interested. yeah posting would be essential unless you live anywhere round preston, bolton areas. thats where i am originaaly from and could tie picking the bits up with visiting family.

the car has arrived but needs a fair amount of work the doors dont close and seal the roof so there is leaks either side. gunna put new locks and ignition barrel on as the ones on and tempremental. then a few more odd jobs will see it on the road.

Had a productive few days with regards to getting the engine built back up.
Got the block back - it's been bored by 0.5mm.
And about an hour later it looks like this!
Four new oversize pistons, new bearings, crank back in, new sump and a load of gaskets, seals etc…
Next job is to get the engine enamel out and give it a couple of coats of paint.
Back up at my garage I've started the horrible job of stripping the wax-oil off from the bulkhead. This part wasn't painted with the rest of the car and hence reveals the original white paint. Luckily no sign of rust! I'll make sure this is a nice silver colour before the engine goes back in…

Slightly late with this update - had some camera problems! Anyway, progress is being made and am pleased with what's been done recently.
With all the waxoil removed the bulkhead was sprayed and has come up really well.
Also got the powder-coated bits back together...
And I've fitted the poly bushes to the steering rack
Even picked up a new battery following a trip to Ford
The bay is now ready to drop the block back in...watch this space !

Thought it was about time for another update so here we go…
The re-assembled block is now back in place and means I can really get cracking with all the other bits and pieces to bolt back on:
Newly painted engine mounting:
Painted the back of the block too:
Pic showing starter and new sump:
Another one of the starter:
And finally had time to refit the radiator and intercooler. Also been busy rebuilding the head with new Cam, Followers and Seals. More details to follow!

Just a quick update on a couple of interior mods.
I've fitted a new aerial that has an inbuilt signal enhancer. This will mean I can remove the original one and smooth over the rear wing in due course.
Also got hold of some Zolda trim and was feeling creative!

Sharpdart - I believe all the XR3i models are around the 105 BHP mark. With a Turbo conversion you will be looking at over 130 BHP as standard with numerous modifications possible.
I suggest the first mods you should make would be a stainless exhaust and induction kit (which I believe is available for the EFi but not MFi)
Hope this helps

Apologies to all for being a bit lazy of late and not getting many pictures up, I'm a bit behind with the updates!
Anyway, here's a few pics just to reassure you that progress is being made…
Any comments welcome!

I've been very quiet on the update front, although I have still been busy doing bits and pieces on the car whenever I get the chance. The main news is the car is up an running again. The engine is still being run-in and I've only done a couple of hundred miles so far! I plan to get the boost setup properly after about 1000 miles so until then it's just gonna be gentle plodding about on a sunny Sunday afternoon!
Below are a few pics of the complete engine bay. I'm still not quite happy with a few bits so there'll be more updates to come.
I've also added the bonnet pins - not to everyone's liking but felt they were necessary with the bigger intercooler positioned very close to the bonnet catch.
I've managed to source a good, solid second-hand petrol tank, and have given it a few coats of this stuff:
With the results as follows…
I've also got hold of a rear anti-roll bar (not fitted as standard to the Cabriolet).
It will need to be blasted and powder-coated.
Also, I've begun an overhaul on the rear suspension setup. The tie-bars have been powder-coated, as have the rear hubs. Poly bushes added too!
Final part to update everyone on is the windscreen wiper mounting. This has been stripped and painted and looks like new!
I hope to get some more pictures up soon. Progress will be quite slow but hopefully there'll be a few little bits I can add to keep this thread alive!
All comments welcome!

About bloody time lol
It's not so cold outside now so will hopefully see me a bit more motivated over the coming weeks ( or months! )
