Started this awhile back, don't know if anyone's interested with it not being a Ford. It started off as a pretty bare shell that had been standing for a couple of years, and now it's even more bare! I'll let the pictures do the talking...
When I picked the car up

Weld in 6 point cage

The car came with reet gay lambo doors and hydraulic system, this is/was obviously to be binned!
We removed the ABS system, all the hydraulic pipework that ran under the car other odds and sods in the bay, the dash is actually clean and best of all, discovered that my coilovers are Tein HA's with progressive springs!
Removed all the wiring loom

Drivers door removed

Hydraulic rams for the doors in the inner wing

The other day I took delivery of some new doors and also a carbon fiber rear diffuser

And this is where I'm up to now, bit more done today!
Completely doorless

Hydraulic rams removed both sides, all that's left of the gay lambo doors now is the brackets welded in!

B&M short shifter, shame I won't be using the gearbox!

Gearbox out

Big gaping hole for something special!

Engine plans are a bit up in the air at the moment, it's doubtfull it'll be another rotary as for the cost/reliability issues I don't want to chance it. I used to have an RX7 and loved the engine but for a track car which will be abused I want something more robust. Looking at either a V8 conversion (LS1 or LS2) or a 1 or 2JZ engine. Both have readily available conversion parts that allow to simply just drop the engine in with the minimal of fuss!

Bit of an update on this, although not a great deal has happened in honesty. Not spent anything on it as all my money is going towards a house deposit so obviously that takes priority! Still plenty to be getting on with though in the meantime.
I've removed pretty much everything from inside the engine bay now and started to chip away at the sound deadening inside. I need to drop the front suspension/sub-frame out ready for new fully adjustable suspension, spec below...
Front Lowers
Front Uppers
Top hat spacers
Plates for upper mounts
Plates for subframe modifications
And the spacers for the uprights and steering rack
I'll also be removing the power steering rack and replacing it with a manual quick rack made by the same bloke.
Dash needs to come out so I can remove the rest of the heating elements and basically binning everything that is uneeded!
Never undertaken a project like this so it's very much learn as I go!

Dash half out

Laid bare!

Hubs off the car completely

Pile o'bits

Engine bay minus subframe, steering rack etc

Started to take out some of the wiring loom as well. Need to finish that then strip the rear suspension, diff etc. Will then treat the underside before removing any signs of rust from the inside and paint all that up.

I will be putting a fairly standard rotary engine in with stock twins.

Nissan tax, weight of the engine to name but two. Not interested in big power figures anyway to be honest. I can buy and rebuild a twin rotary engine for very little.
Nissan tax, but you'd happily rebuild a rotary engine every so often, I just wouldnt even consider the rotary engine especially if your tracking it I wouldnt rely on it, i'd sooner stick an SR20det engine from a 200sx in.
Anyhooo hope it turns out well whatever you decide, I was only Suggesting
awsome m8. love it. im planning on doing this to mine over the winter, if i ever get my new garage finished haha. My engine blew up
but im definatly stickin with the rotary, big monster port and a big single turbo.
dont be put off by realiability, just people like hurleys building engines badly with junk bits cleaned up. ive been in one with an LS2 V8 in it and that pefect handling was ruined because it messed the weight distribution up.
what do u plan to do about the floor. im fearing myns going to be worse. and are u going to restore it all?
will watch this

Cant imagine an RB would be much heavier than a 2jz as mentioned in the OP which my post was aimed at....

They have become unreliable due to all the shitters that made it across from japland and getting snapped up by people that dont understand them.....Compare the nissan tax to the rotary tax and you will see what we are getting at
No worries on the suggestion.....plenty of guys have been dropping V8's in and one guy is doing a TT V8!!
Ill keep an eye on this, good luck with it dude!
Was gonna buy one of these a few years back, really liked the look of the twin turbo, however after doing some research, and looking at the solenoid and pipes setup that control the turbos, commonly known as the rats nest...i promptly...ran away...
But in its defence..got to say i aint seen much that can acelerate like these engines..
Check this clip out 1min 45secs into it....is what i am talking about...when it comes to acceleration..

Forgot to take pics but last night we dropped the rear suspension cradle, diff, power plant frame etc and removed the rest of the wiring. It's practically a bare shell now and I can start cutting away anything I don't need and clean up the underside.
hi mate
LS it mate , theres a guy called Craige in birmingham who does theses converstions he's pretty good at it he has done a few of them now
he has one with 700+ bhp ls engine
