Default S2 project from scratch

Hi all you petrol heads out there.
Due to my engine going bang (well my 3rd engine in a year and a bit), my turbo going bang and my head and cam smashing to pieces I have decided to turn my escort into a project. Hoping to of completed it in a couple of years.
I will be posting pictures of the progress as I go along. Although you'll have to bear with my as money is real tight so wont be getting alot of it done soon. But will get done eventually.
Will post pictures of the car as it is now later on.
Sweet!!!

Right here's a few pictures of my baby. I noticed in the title of this thread i've put 'from scratch'. It isn't actually a project from scratch cause the car's already been painted.
Eventually ill be getting it undersealed and sprayed underneathe with powder coated parts to replace the rusty parts. And get the engine bay re-sprayed That's probably what ill do first before i concentrate on the engine.

Thats what happens when car meets lorry. LOL.
Was racing a mercedes down a dual carriageway. We must of hit about 150mph (the needle was off the speedo). I had standard brakes but not standard engine. A lorry overtook another lorry and my brakes weren't strong enough to stop us.

Anyone know the best place to get anti roll bars, lower arms etc from?
I want to replace my rusty old ones for something bit more stronger.

I had it on the rollers at Jamsport at just under 200BHP before the engine went bang.

Got a few more things off the car now. Sorry taking so long but i've only got the basic plumbers tools (adjustable spanner, grips and screwdrivers). And a cheap socket set. No proper tools.

Took the bumper off. Which was a real arse ache to do seeing i didn't have a 13mm spanner. Took forever with the grips

Then took the intercooler off

Went to take the radiator off but cant cause there's a rubber bit ontop of the radiator that comes through a gromet on the top. How do i get the radiator out without breaking the rubber bit?
So cause i got stuck with that, i started on the rocker.

if you dont have the right tools then wouldnt it be a good idea to invest in some before you go any further? i know they arent cheap, but its gonna be a better way to spend your money than spending it on fixing the fuckups that could happen by using the wrong tools / methods

the project looks like its coming on nicely though mate, keep the updates coming

Alright. Sweet. But Jamsport? I dont know. Jamie's the one that's been doing all the work to my car in the past year, and it's got us no where. Ended up with having to put a second hand engine and turbo in it.
Im not saying its down to him but the work i've had done by them looked like it's all been bodged together. And he aint cheep either.

Reading over what i previously said, i didn't mean for it to sound like that. The reason Jamie put a second hand engine in for us is cause my one blew and i asked him to put something in that would just get us about but something that wouldn't be too expensive. So he sorted us out with a second hand engine. Which got us about. I dont want people to think that all of his work is shit as most of you probably know, Jamsport have got a good reputation.
And despite how things have gone for me in the past year with this car, Jamie has done us alot of favours and sorted us out.
Nice one Jamie.

Been real tied up with things this week. Sorry guys. Only managed to get the exhaust off this week.

Just waiting for another set of axle stands so i can get underneath properly and start stripping it. Got to send some pictures to Jamie at Jamsport too so he can give us a price for undersealing and spraying it. Got to siphane the petrol thats left in the tank too. Not looking forward to that.
More updates hopefully over the weekend.

Sorry about the delay guys. Im cracking on with stripping it all out the weekend. Gunna take the bumpers and skirts off as i have noticed the arches rotting a bit so have gotta get that done first.
Then im gunna tackle the gearbox.
Then finally strip the dash, carpet and seats out.
Would be nice to get it all done this weekend but not to sure.
Pictures tomorrow or sunday.

Cracked on with stripping her. Although doing so i found what i was hoping i wouldn't. Bits that needed welding.

Inside was think thankfully. Thats one thing knocked off my list to do. Just gotta take the dash and rest out at the weekend.

I attempted taking the body kit off and got stuck after the arch. Its those stupid f**king clips that hold the body kit to the body. I got told you need a special tool to take them out. Anyone know any other way?

Didn't think of that. Ill prob get a saw to it. That should be fun. Could get a bit messy. LOL.
Cheers dude.

I suppose the rot aint that bad. Was just hoping that it would be as simple as get it sprayed and no welding. It'll set us back further now as have to splash out for some welding.

You dont know any decent welders in the buckinghamshire area by any chance do ya? Could do with all the help i can here. Sooner she's back on the road the better. And i didn't want to concentrate on the engine until i got the body work to mint condition. Underneath too.

Had a day off work today so thought i'd do a bit before the weekend. Wont be able to do anyhting Sunday cause at santapod. Well looking forward to that.

Anyway here's a couple of pic's.

Still couldn't get the bloddy skirts off. Started to lose me temper with it so i gave up. I couldn't get a hacksaw inbetween the head of the clips and the skirts. Whoever invented these clips should be shot

Fianlly managed to get the gearbox out followed by what was left of the engine.

Then finished stripping inside the car. Apart from the wires, but im leaving them too someone who knows what they're doing.

Thats probably all thats going to get done for quite a while now.
Until i can afford to get it re-sprayed and undersealed.

Sorry guys but this is probably the last post im going to put on this year.
Im getting married next year so i've got to start saving for that.
To be honest i'd rather have the wedding after my car's running, but she dont know that.

But if any way i get into some money then ill be able to do both. So i will be posting more pic's. But i cant see that happening.

Cheers for all your comments and views. I will be back next year with big updates. Hopefully.
