minor update on major progress
many things have changed over the last few Months Carl (owner) is now a daddy and can only spare limited time to the re birth (pardon the pun) of the s1 and on top of that I also felt it was tme for a change and changed jobs and found myself working a different end of the day so now I can devote a little time to the real things that matter in my life ie my family my home and my spare time. in that order, spare time of course means a little time to progress the series1.
current situation
As mentioned earlier anti roll bar and adjustable tie rod assemblies are nicely powdercoated and back in place. final tightening will take place once car completed and geometry checked to make sure caster and toe is correct.
Doors are gapped, as is bonnet. Bodykit is fitted. plus as you can see I found the box with the door handles and locks in it
Engine and gearbox is in though still lacks a few bits to make her run so we will be turning our attention to that in the not too distant (hopefully) future.
Interior is still quite bare at the moment but I intend to change that this week.
Sun roof is in, Roof lining is in, handbrake is in and working, steering column is in (less steering wheel for the moment)
We will be mainly concentratiing tomorrow on seat belts and interior quarter trims and possibly rear seats, but we may leave the rear seat base until after the carpet is in and fuel pump and guage is working as we have not had a battery to test systems with.
Exhust has been refitted but requires some adjustment (probably due to the use of a slightly beefier turbo, but its out of the way for now as it was sitting under the car and was getting in the way.
Front grille, headlights, indicators and driving lights are all on the car, though the grille will be coming back off for satin black detailing.
Rear light clusters are in place and number plate lamp wiring is run and fingers crossed will all work (mutimeter says so)
So in a nutshell not too much left to do
once the bumpers are back on and a bronze windscreen sourced that will be the cosmetic side of things sorted for now, though I'm still not 100% on the tailgate gaps, thats gonna bug me so i might have to look at that.
I will have a big bite of the interior work tomorrow and will update again soon, but for now my bed is calling take care people thanks for staying interested...

Alright alright, I'll try my best lol.
Not gonna double post so I'll leave a quick update now.
Carl phoned me earlier today slightly excited.
When we took the car apart the stuck on trims up the A post (screen pillar) and up the B post were in poor condition to say the least plus the drivers side one had a boost guage pod fitted and had screw holes in it.
It seems he's managed to source some replacements in what the seller describes a good condition so. we await those then we can refit the capping to the top of the 1/4 trims them move onto the doors and dash. he may also have some decent footwell speaker pods though not too sure on the condition of those. we also need the sunroof handle recess trim, because, as usual the screw inserts broke out when we removed the sunroof.
Will be working on the car tomorrow so hopefully more updates to follow soon.

Cheers Davy, glad to hear u not sold it would I be right in assumingu've gone to the jap side..lol
my mate has a nice s14 just right for summer arse end out action.
you couldn't do me a favour and let me have some detailed pics of how the battery cables route down to starter could you i need to know what clamps i need to make/ buy to keep them away from the turbo as our original ones have got far too hot at some point also there is a device linked to the coil if i could have a picture of that too. I think it may bolt under the coil bracket but want to be sure.
In your own time mate, no rush would be a big help, take care

further progress (pics to follow)
Please accept my apologies for a double post
More progress has been made
The inside is starting to look like a car again, since my last update we have now finished the doors with trims on so it's also feeling a little warmer inside while I sort out the dashboard, column and centre console (yet to be fitted) rear seats are in as are seat belts and the cappings on the rear 1/4 panels.
Sadly the guy breaking the s1 that got Carl excited didn't come up with the bits we wanted so the search continues.
I've been busy under the bonnet too.
Restored and rewired the washer bottle, made final connection on driving lights and front fan, plumbed in the cooling system, wired the sensors in the plenum chamber and tidied the wiring up along the bulkhead.
My next mission will be clutch cable and quadrant connection and speedo cable, then I can finallly move onto the dash.
More updates to follow next week guys along with pictures.
thanks for staying interested

I dont have detailed pics to hand, but next time im near the car i'll grab some (its at a unit a good few miles from where I live but visit it now and again). Im sure you can buy brand new battery and earth leads on ebay for like Ł20, genuine ford...comes with all the right bits, sure its just one P clip that goes onto the top gearbox bolts.
I dont have any pics of the resistor that goes beneath the coil, I dont recall my car having this but I do know the S2's have them. Remember my cars converted to EFI so has wasted spark now!
It's getting there

Bargain....
Now most of the interior is in, we had a dig around in the loft in search of the dashboard and controls.
My heart sank when the two were reunited
Not Good
Then, ebay came to the rescue
Et voila...... One near perfect dash.
I've been working on the wiring under the dash too, the car was fitted with two alarms. both mis-matched and poorly fitted so they boh came out and the wiring reverted to standard. this, hopefully wil minimise potential immobiliser faliure when we actually do get round to firing her up for the first time in almost 4 years.
Dont worry, suitable security will be fitted the moment she runs.
plus on top of that the wiring to the fuel pump relay has ben butchered so weve made use of the donor loom we came in posession of to make everyting niice and as it should be.
Hopefully not long to go now before she starts up but were still waiting for a few niggly bits to finish the engine off.
I will keep you posted

Apologies
My apologies for a sustained absence from here, first and foermost my home pc became so slow doing anything became a drag. Secondly the finishing touches we are waiting for to finish the car are a little slow in turning up Thirdly Carl now works nights so weekends it is which stops weeknight progress and finally I am going to be a daddy again. all of which has seriously slowed progress on the project but in November this year It will be 5 years since the beginning of the rebirth and High time we finished her.
There Isn't a lot left to do. We cannot get her running without the oil return union that goes to the sump once we have one of them we will try and fire her up. wish us luck.. This should be this week sometime. we are waiting for James, a top bloke to know who has one and is coming over to help me with one or two niggly bits under the bonnet but he's a busy man and will fit us in when he can.
We have a windscreen for it though as yet I am unsure if Bronze or clear
And I belive Carl has finally got a front bumper for her..(our first choice was not as good as it seemed so ended up junk) we have a decent set of overriders for that waiting to be fitted.
My biggest concern apart from the fuel pump housing is with the braking system being dry for so long I wonder if everything will work as it should. we will endeavour to get brakes on this working in the near future.. will update with pictures once progress finally made..
