Yes mate, I should be up the workshop Sunday. I did catch the one inner wing putting the gearbox in on account of my granddad being deaf but generally ok.

No mate, cars not on the road yet. I've been doing little bits and bobs here and there, but the barns so big and cold with no heating I haven't done much. I popped up last week and the thermometer on the wall said -22oC!

The cars more complete than the thread shows, I just haven't bothered updating it.

I'll start cracking on with it after X mas.

I've had to make a decision with what I want from this car as a change of career, as I've previously said, means I won't be about an awful lot to drive it and when I am back I don't want to be doing motorways miles in a car that's got a straight cut gearbox, and non servo assisted brakes etc and will be doing as many track days as possible....Which leaves me in a pickle. Why bother having a well spec'd road car which I can't and won't really use on the road.

So the decision has been made that I will be stripping the car

But don't fear, I mean stripping it for the track and using it as a full on road legal track car. For now I will be keeping the EsCos Recaro front seats and keeping the rears to fit when needed, with carpets full dash etc, but fitting a cage, harnesses.

Later on I will go the whole hog and re paint the inside with a pair of buckets I'm sure. But even with a full interior, the gauges, flocked dash and overall look of the car should be able to pull off what I ordered up last night. A full race livery based on the Sonex RS500 DTM car, but reversed as my car is red. All the main sponsors will also be changed to local companies like AH Fabrications, OddKidd Creations, Level Peaks Associates ( a good friends security company), MP Auto Bodies etc and the smaller ones such as Pirrelli, LuK ETC will be changed to parts I have used on the car like AP, Leda, Compomotive etc. Should look trick when its done. Should have a proof in the next week or so.

Cheers,Harry. You using Frozen White? I need a White which I'll match the vinal which I'm guessing will be a very clear, bright White. I'll prep and prime them myself then get you to throw the paint on.

Not sure what todo with the mirrors either. Might shorten them and paint them black?

Got some nice new parts arrived for the car. A safety Devices 6 point cage with welded rear diagonal. (not this very cage, but the same, mines off for shotblasting)

I'm going to look at welding it into the shell rather than bolting and welding the sections together, making it essentially a weld in cage, adding my own door bars, extra diagonal on the back to make an |-X-| shape with harness bars and welding in a rear strut brace which may link into the cage.

Also spotted these on eBay so had to have them (I know I said I would stop buying fancy, pointless stick on shit and spend the money getting it on the road but I couldn't help myself );

Only some crap small pics pulled form eBay as they haven't arrived yet but as soon as they do they'll be off to MP Autobodies for lacquer. Not sure whether to do them in a high gloss or matt lacquer though.... :

I had my old wheels Matt lacquered and they looked nice. What you recon it will look like on Carbon, Harry? Everything on the cars matt black anyway I guess.

Was going to do the cage dark metallic grey? Same colour I did my gearbox in. I think it's the colour ST170's come in.

These are a few I took a few weeks back for someone. The battery is in the wheel well on a regular battery tray I've welded to the boot floor. The main power feed from the battery goes to a distribution box in the passenger footwell. I'll have to get a picture of the fusebox, but its under the dash behind the centre console. It all has to come out in the next few weeks as I'm oputting new inner sills in, small repair as you can see in the passenger arch and welding in the mouting points for the roll cage, then re painting the inside.

It will be treated to a liberal coating of matt black when the rest of my bits are also ready for paint. Radiator, drive shafts, fuel filter and bracket etc.

Only had a small amount of time on it tonight so went and fitted my Wideband Lambda kit. Still using an Innovate Motorsports LC-1. Spot the chip I put in the inner wing

My wiring clips aren't big enough for the wiring on this so need to order some bigger ones to pin it back to the inner wing.

and this is where the fusebox is. I've got some 1.5mm carbon fibre sheet on its way so I can make a little box to surround it.

Now I know all the electrics work I need to fit the alarm and then I can tape it all up.

Yeah all sorted. The ground from the indicator stalk goes from stalk to the blue plug on the dials and loops over to the white plug on the dials then loops back again to the main chassis earth....I forgot to take the loop to the chassis.
