Mike, just incase it helps, when i had one of the dodgy Cosworth oil pumps on my own car.(The relief valve stuck on them), i actually saw 3 oil filters burst the canister while testing pressures etc
The seal lasted fine at massive pressure and i never saw any sign one would fail. The actual canister split wide open along the the screw face first. The 3rd one got me in the face
Certainly a strange failure, and pretty scary when you look at the money in your engine Is the filter still in the std position? or re located.

There was no damage to the filter that came off that we could see. Will obviously be keeping an eye on it to see what happens.
The filter is still in the usual place, but I was thinking of remote mounting it following this incident.....

Maybe keeping it away from the engine vibration would help, maybe it just came loose?
i wasn't suggesting you had a one of those old dodgy pumps, just that in my experience the seal on the filter can take more pressure than the filter itself, so i don't see your issue being pressure related.
I'm sure you have one but it would definitely be worth setting up a high pressure warning a little closer to normal operating pressure to catch it early if it happens again, incase it is a pump/pressure relief problem.
Ive always loved your car, its one of the best all rounders out there i reckon
Good to see Richie working, i think the last time i saw one of his cars i was under the bonnet re attaching the alternator after it almost fell off

Obviously from now on, I will be keeping an eye on it. I may get it lock-wired to play safe in the meantime .

It's not one of the dodgy billet ones, it was one of the latest cast high pressure ones from Protech.

I did this on Sunday and once the weather dried out, I stuck the camera inside the car. I didn't bother in the morning, as the track was too wet, so it was just point and squirt and tip-toe (by comparison to normal dry conditions) around the corners.
I decided to do it rearward facing for a change, as it seems to visually sanitise the speed quite a bit having it forward facing.
The format was an out-lap, a hot lap and an in-lap for each passenger.
I did over 60 laps (raised over Ł1200), used 2 tanks of fuel and one set of brake pads before having to switch to the CSL for the final 1˝ hours. I didn't bother switching the camera over, as the CSL is a bit pedestrian by comparison .
Vid 1: Also starring Ferrari 360 CS, Lotus Exige S1, MG V8 and a Caterham.
Vid 2: Also starring Ferrari 360 CS and a Honda DC5 race car (pretty clear track on this one) .
Vid 3: Also starring AM Vantage, Evo IV rally car, Ultima Can Am and Alfa 146 Time Attack car.
Vid 4: Also starring Nissan 200SX Drift Car, Ferrari 360 CS, Clio 200 race car and E46 M3 Race car.
Vid 5: Also starring Clio 200 race car, Fiesta race car, Nissan GTR 750R, Cobra Daytona, 355 Challenge and 430 Scuderia.

Rich,
No, I'll always be interested in the Cossie scene - spent half my life involved in it LOL. I've just had massive life changes over the last 12 months and want to do lots of other things, which this would free up the capital to do (and I'm just not using it).
Stu,
The Escort is amazing on track, where the CSL does everything (just at a lower level).

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Hope it goes to a good home and not in bits!
Do you not fancy going back to another Saff Mike, to keep a bit of Cossie fun, but less money tied up?
Just avoid those roundabouts!
