Escort stage rally car

Hi Martin
It all functions now, I just need to map the shifts. Take up is good for forward and reverse, just need either a straight and quiet road (never find one) or no lockdown so i can get it on the dyno.
I have learned loads with HTG and their GCU now so I am very happy it does what it is supposed to.
They did a 4 hour remote session with me to assist me on my queries. Very good people.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Markk i see some time ago you posted on a thread that you had a steering quickener on your race car? do you still have it fitted? what ratio did you have ? and how did it perform. Do you have any pics of how you installed it. i am looking at one for my track car as well.

Hi, I did and I still have it, its great, I went for the 1.5:1. Mine has a bracket welded to the bulkhead because I couldn't fit it inside the car because of my EPAS column.
If I was to do it again I would completely re-design it. I would put the quickener right after the steering wheel, then the EPAS column, then the rack.
If you have no EPAS and you are using the hydraulics then just add one in somewhere inside the car. Mine is from Howe racing and is the heavy duty one. For in-column you can get some very small units now. Mine is a large round one.

Managed to use this in anger on an event last week purely as a first test. Just transformed the way it delivers the power, no lifting off the throttle, just click the paddle. So nice.
Some more mapping to do, much easier if you have a road car and you can just take it out and drive it on the road, not so easy with a rally car and then I cannot take the laptop on an event so a little more challenging to get it right.
GCU now interfaces through my DBW pedal demand so torque management can be handled by the gearbox controller for cuts and blip targets per gear.
