Nice lookin engine no doubt.. but you need to get out more LOL.
Honestly, with all that work going into it with that huge ass turbo I would think he wants to go in the 9's not mid high 10's

I hope Ian has made modification to the rest of the car to put the power down, when he had around 500bhp he was still running road tyres?

Big wide ass tyres and wheely bars?

you are correct it is an early cosworth duratec inlet but he had to cut it open of course to port it out a bit more. the bloke is a lad

has this thing been dyno'd yet

about 80bhp of raw power

stunning in looks but like said..can it roll with the best...

it would look good turned sideways in a mk2 escort

he's been building that for a while now eh?

I agree,all that power in a fwd car is a waste really. turn that engine around and put it in a rwd car

Its not a road car its a drag car so if he can control it and get the power down then good on him
There are FWD drag cars in the USA that run 9's, this is what Ian is trying to beat

Again, I don't know what the total car will look like but if that's the case.. mid 10's isn't going to do it!
They're down to the 8's, 7's now.

You seen what the "FWD big dogs" run in the states?

He got a long way to go to even run times like tha AN Racing rover, never mind the proper FWD drag cars.

Power is a VERY small part of how you get the times.

I know both well and have no doubt Ian's car is as well thought out as Andy's

Similar weight cars and similar power, tyres set up etc.

Inlet manifold is an early prototype from Cosworth America which I reworked and added the extra 4 injectors into (8x 625cc/m). Custom Fuel rails.

Exh manifold is 321 SS in 1"3/4 bore. Turbo is Turbonetics T72 with P trim turbine and 1.00 A/R housing (spec'd to suit my cams).

It will run on 102 Oct fuel without and help from NoS and should crack 700 without sweating too hard, but if 800 is close by, it may be given one last push

Think your all getting a bit carried away now

No world records happening here

I think Andy and Ian will have ago to beat a quarter of 10.8 this year and then might sell up and concentrate on either a high powered RWD or 4WD kit car.

Just my gut feeling

I'm forcing them to catch the kit car bug

That's what I was thinking Stavros! Take him years to develop? I hope he's going to have years of wages saved up as well... have you seen these Yanky Big dog FWD cars? full tube chasis CF bodies huge hp monsters with big money sponsers. They're doing low 7's... LOW 7's!!!!

If they're all space framed and stuff, they're getting to the point where they are hardly even the car they were based on before. Just a full-on dragster. I'd rather see fast road/track cars, than some space frame with a plastic body on it any day

All the best to Ian though, he's built some monsters over the years, so will be great to see what he can do with this beast

Here is one a did a quick search for.. it's a girl in the Silver car... even thought it's "Only" LOL 7.9 it's still in the 7's

No disrespect to Ian, I've also seen his work and know it's good but, before you can start saying he's going to break FWD Drag racing records.. maybe you should look to see what he's up against.

Very true but if a car is being purpose built to a specific race form than there's nothing else to really say is there? Build a drag car to do drag races, build a track car to be track racer. No extra logic needed in that thought.
