rs nutta: He wont sell it sorry
Rust is amazingly cheap but yes the amount of panels i have bought it'll be 75% new car and probably cost as much as a new one was . Think that is all the panels now, just need a bootlid and cant get one without rust for toffee! I've rang west yorks, west mids all have rust and i cant get one new from the motorfactors so im stuck at the mo !! Not sure how repairable mine is but really would be a load of hassle!!! Still im having a look at some from west mids RS centre on tuesday, just have to see how bad thase are compared to mine!!

Not really looking for the weight saving(yet). Dont really want to go down that root(yet)lol. Might end up being my only option, Im still undecided as to whether i should put my bucket seats in there? I like the original retro look about them, might change my mind though!

Today some real work started with russ at custom body repair sorting out the manky rotten boot floor and spare wheel well!
The old bottom of the well!!
He made a new plate and put swage lines in for strength!
Then made a plate for the corner on top of the chassis leg!
Underneath takked in place
Then all seam welded and tidied up!!
Then the towing eye seam welded!!
To say im impressed with his work is an understatement, He seems to be able to make anything and make it look factory! Cant wait to see what the car is going to turn out like!
Oh and also treated myself to this !!

Thanks to all its nice to see some metal going back into it (makes the whole thing a lot less depressing lol). Having a workshop with the right tools makes all the difference, done too many hours without proper equipment and facilities before and the end product for me never turns out like i want! Having russ do the clever stuff is great cos i know that he has the experiance and skill to get what i want. He's away for two weeks now but when he gets back its full steam ahead, So will be big updates then. Look alot better with some new panels on, so really looking forward to that! keep watching for updates!
Turbo Pez: Good luck with yours and ill keep watching for updates sure its gunna be a minter when you've finished m8!!

Today russ set about the ball ache that is my sills! The replacement inner sills wernt as extensive as we first thought so he is having to do yet more custom panels to replace the rot and win the battle against rust!
New inner sill in and seat belt fixing point put in (replacement panel didnt have one )
The back part of the inner sill/jacking reinforcing point that needs to be made from scratch!
Cutting out the last bits of infected metal
At least there is some metal left
The new panel, needs trimming to fit but you get the idea!
The gout ridden inner sill
Some shots of the new inner sill and floor repairs
Thats it for today but more tommorow sat and sun! So glad to see metal go back into it and make it all strong again. Should have the side done by sunday and maybe a start on the passenger side

Well russ and i have been very busy over the past two days(russ more so than me) and have really pushed the project ahead so i have prepared a MEGA post to show th eprogress! WE could have gone faster but russ is picking up every detail and "letting" the panels into the excisting bodywork properly! The amount of prep work is immense but worth it as the drivers side is so strong now! Excuse me if some of the photos are out of order but there is alot to post!

The outer sill on! Unfortunately i was at work on fri so couldnt photo all the other little panels inside which were made from scratch!
The rear wheel arch nearly complete through to completely in!
The rear panel being removed!
Just about ready to weld!
Welding and welded!
Panel gaps all round are spot on!
Whilst russ was busy with the finishing of the arch and doing the back panel i took the rear shock off and started to clean up areas of concern!
Then removed the fuel tank to takle the chassis leg and repaint the tank and floor!
Start of the repair!
One last one of the car at the current stage! On it again tommorow so have a load more done by then!
A big thanks to russ for agreeing to work all weekend and doing such a comprehensive restoration! He must be knackered after all that cos i am and i didnt do half as much as he did LOL!

Anouther load of work today trying to finish the drivers side and rear of the car so we can move onto the passengers side. Been a big ballache for me as i had the lovely task of prepping and painting the underside of the boot floor . The underside wont be concours so dont expect that, just to tidy up and get fresh paint on to stop rust appearing. The suspension has and probably will be left as it is as i want to change it all anyway, but first things first!
Fuel tank being prepped ready for paint!
Bottom painted!
Top painted!
Now finishing the chassis leg!
Some lovely boxing!
Now finishing the prep of the underside! A dirty dusty horrible job
After first coat!
A few coats later!
Then time to turn the car around!
Russ posing next to the pics of his race cars,He loves it he does lol
Then onto getting the car jacked up and have a look at the passenger side rot!
looks not so bad from the outer sill but start cutting and you've guessed it
FUCKING ROT
The outer sill bulk cut away and some make shift sound deadining by the previous owner
Cutting the rest away and having a go at the inner sill
And how she stands as of tonight!
Probably abot four days welding left to the tub as there are bits of patching etc to do inside after the sills and wings are welded on.Then prep for paint!!! But i still have a couple of days underneath to go .Unfortunately thst is it for about three weeks due to russ being on holiday and other work commitments, but the end is in sight and hopefully should be painted and mint in six weeks or so! Then on to the engine and gearbox Cant wait to have the body all done cos i know it will be mint and very strong! Hope everyone is enjoying the resto as much as me.

Well i've decide to put these in instead of the stock seats, due to the fact they are brand new and doing nothing and they fit me like a glove. Going to try and mount them so that the original seats can still be put back in!
Proper sabelt six point harnesses aswell
