Had a good day at Combe yesterday Didn't have the balls to take the Doris' fiesta on track
Met up with Jaseshaffy, Kelv, Ryan, RAN S S, Marco and Martin, Eagle and Nigel b and many others
Came home with some goodies
Loads of Mobil 1 Motorsport, new CPS, 071 plugs, cam belt and tensioner and a small torque wrench from Matt Lewis Excellent price and service off Matt as usual
Some nice black Roose hoses of Kelv and some stainless steel ties to hold my exhaust wrap on the downpipe.
And the Doris' little XR2i returned 38mpg at an average 90mph

While the loom is out i have removed the following wiring: front fogs, headlight wash wipe, the cig lighter and stereo supply, the door open/light out warning boxes and wiring and also the alarm that was put in by a Thatcham approved dealer. Looked like it was fitted by a 3 year old with some crimps and a roll of black tape Refitting the alarm properly with all soldered and heat shrink covered joints and taped in with the main loom. Also running new feed to the fuel pump and supplies to the windscreen washer pump and water injection pump which are located in the boot now with a nice big 10 litre tank
Its fiddly but will be worth it in the long run

Fuse box going either just to the right of the steering column so i can use a 4x4 lower dash with the opening glove box type bit or above the transmission tunnel where the ashtray/stereo was with a carbon/flocked cover
Still undecided but probably be the first option so i still have ability to fit a stereo

Couple of little updates:
No oil pump yet
Started to sort out connections for my oil breather pipes. I'm going to use ptfe lined stainless steel braided hose with swaged on zinc plated adaptors.
Many thanks to Mike R for the advice
Using a -10 for the oil return from the tank back to the sump. It returns under the level of the oil.
Having removed the standard 'kidney box' breather i machined -12 adaptor down to fit the block. Going to make a bracket that bolts to the engine mounting arm to hold it in the block.
Instead of the pipe running between the inlet manifold a 90 degree adaptor lets the hose run over the starter motor and up to the tank
Also had couple more bits delivered
Silicon to go between intercooler and swedish style plenum
Six paddle Alcon clutch and cover.
Also fitted some Fiesta turbo wheels to the Doris' XR2i

Due to continued problems with trying to get a good oil pump and a possible career change i'm sad to say after 10 years of owning B9KOS i'm 99% decided she's finally going the way most Cossie's seem to go......

Time for the first daily update in the run up to the final roadtrip to MSD.
Firstly just been for a nice cavery/pint after a good day working in the sun.
Refitted the heater, windscreen wiper motor, heater/engine dividing panel, morrettes & indicators. Also fitted the header tank in its new posistion where the battery used to be.
Covered the drivers side inner wing and transmission tunnel with some aluminium foil tape to reflect as much heat as possible. The down pipe is going to be covered in exhaust wrap aswell so i can hopefully run with no heat shield My thinking on this is that now i have no ABS unit and have changed to a 4x4 manifold the distance between the brake resevoirs and the turbo/downpipe is sufficent to allow a good air flow through
After some final tidying the main loom in the engine bay is now complete. All the loom runs around the drivers side inner wing now instead of going down by the turbo. Secured it in place using rubber lined 'P' clips instead of the usual plastic clips.
The radiator fan wiring has been completely removed to be replaced by a seperate sub loom that will include an overide switch and a fans on LED indication in the instrument cluster.
The wiring for the front fog lights, windscreen washers pump(tank relocated to the boot) and headlamp washers/wipers has been removed.
Using one of the connectors i removed from the loom i made a neat little sub loom for the reverse light switch.
Early start again tommorrow
