mk4 escort xr3i makin of a pick up
when i first bought the xr3i
engine bay split fire leads came with the car scruffy stickers thow
rs turbo bonnet fitted with 90spec bumper soon after naibour desided to reverse his van and hit the front of the car bending the bonnet and snapping the bumper but leaving the car with no under body damage
after geting a new rs bonnet on and cuting gap in the bumper
90spec rear spoiler fitted and primerd and smoked rear lights
clean up of the engine bay and srayed sme bits and cleaned nearley all the components
much better luking then b4
done abit of tidying up inside and added few extras
had this lieing around so replaced it with the big bore 4 as that wasnt loud as this
bad boy bonnet soon after
b4 i cut the roof off was coming along well to be a rs turbo replica till i striped the roof lining dwn and revealed the horror
then found the car to be rotting under
woke up next morning finding the roof was gone aswel and took a hold of the angle grinder ant went to plan be which i jus thought of that second
sierra sapphire cosworth spoiler
[/b]
strengthning bars that i have currentley placed and welded inside
working on the front bumper mount area
cut out the rusted top skin
after welding new plate need to redrill holes and grind welding marks
my bedrooms my garage for the time being loll
ashley exhaust system modified for really loud beefy roar and rear box made from center pipe silencer
silencer box removed used for back box replaced with straight pipe
silver box just example lol
loveley collection to choose from lol
was going to reweld a plate but just decided to replace the whole floor pan with a new one to be on the safe rustless side
inner front arch cleaned free of rust and sprayed over with rust proof silver primer
new sill fitted as old sill was rotton then cut off soon after as seen in one of the pics above
steering wheel which will be put back in once projects complete
left side sill still yet to be fitted

interesting work you have done there mate well done, i would weld a panel in at the back of the roof to the floor like the p100's had, would make the shell a lot stiffer, how have you done the tailgate bit?
cheers mark.

thats a tricky one cus there is nothing you can weld to without seeing the welds, what you could do is weld a bar to the bottom of the tailgate going from one side to the other, making sure that it meets the shell at either end, then just weld it to the shell, i take it the latch still works so should be fairly secure?

nice work m8ty seriously suggest going down a scrappy and looking at the added strengthening they have put on the cabbys and yeah cage up the cab.
also get the front bit of the roof with no sunroof and put it on urs to save rot and again slightly more strength
also u need boxes on the exhaust so the back pressure is right as its not a turbo and aint redicularsely loud
good luck with it tho

its a shame you have done the sills aready as you could have used angle iron, box section or the more rectangular style stuff & hid it in the sills to look stock while you are at the scrappy have a look for a VW caddy & see how its done & measure up the rear bulk head for your cab you might find a few other bits that might work with some work like the bed or tail gate /hinges/brackets/locking mechs ???? nice work aswell

kiddy at work was building a nova pickup a couple of years back! the bulkhead he planed to use was the rear hatch from an old estate, astra i think??? just a thought as there strong, easy to get, and flat so no biggy to modify in, maybe an old siera estate one or something would do the trick??
oh and as for stenghthening, from rolling around under my cabby the past few nights, she has 2 rails front to rear, quite heavy box section,
think a strut brace might be a plan too, else she gunna twist on ya
