Default going slight bufty underneath on daily driver.

Hi guys, need bit of help with what to do with the underneath of my s2. Now the car sits kicking its heals most of the time, and only really goes out 2-3 times a week at night to pootle around and show it off. Now the underneath is totally original, with no welding and no rust. But seeing as technically its my daily driver, and i dont want it off the road, what i want to know is, seeing as the original underseal is mint, can i just clean it all, then paint over it with silver hammerite to get it body color underneath but still with the protection of its original underseal? Has anyone done this and if so, have they got any pics? Will be powdercoating all of the suspension etc, but parts will all be done ready to swap over all in on go so it can be done on a weekend or week off.
cheers guys
Danny
