Default FOOK ME!!! SPARK PLUGS SUCK!!!

Well after extensive research into the engine, removing all boost hoses, shooting compressed air into the system to locate any air leaks...I'm pretty sure I've found the reason why she was missfiring in top end...

Now I never noticed it before, because I wasn't looking for it! Never thought it would ever happen...but it did!

Running standard Focus RS NGK plugs on a car that pushes 21psi (1.5 bar) from 3.5k revs has finally taken its toll on one poor little spark plug....

A bit blurry, but can you see what's happened? So much heat, just cracked it straight through...

So just fitted a nice set of Denso ITV-22....seems to be doing the job alright!

Nope, there's a picture there isn;t there!

Just thought I'd see what the reaction would be to a cracked plug...pretty funny though, not seen many like this coming out of a Focus RS engine...weird!

doubt it cracked threw heat more like it's been over tightened or twisted when fitting or removing plugs

Nope, I did it myself...always paranoid when playing with plugs and how tight I screw in brake lines for example...I know it didn't from that!

Plus, there's a bit black (burnt) on the crack...still, weird!

Yeah, I knew that too. But most plugs I seen have blown tips, nothing further than the thread.

But the coil packs fine, had stock RS NGK plug in, with Magnecore leads...

Its a weird one...

Had exactly the same problem on my 4x4 sapph, tried everything, turned out to be a hairline crack in the ceramic on the plug

Are you running Bluefin or has it been mapped by MSD?

Yeah, a Bluefin...she pushed 265bhp on the rollers....thought that was a tad high for the modifications I have!

So just turned the boost down a tad, boosting more sensibly now...
