I thought it was a bit of an odd move, as he originally stated that the plan was to run the car in a few rallies: and it isn't going to be eligible for much with a 670 BHP JGE engine in it!

Have to say that I quite like Block, but hearing him discuss his EscCos and RS200 recently put me off him a bit: he claims the RS200 is his dream car, yet half the "facts" he quoted about it are wrong!

Rallies in the US run to different regulations don't they? I don't know if whether they are so restricted.

The "Open" Rally America class is quite flexible when compared to some UK/European Championship regulations, but turbocharged engines must be run with a restrictor (34mm if I remember rightly), so I can't see a 600+ BHP JGE engine being eligible!

As wrcjim says though, the engine can be restricted for those events. Block did that with his Fiesta "HFHV" a few years ago, running it restricted for Rally America (300ish BHP), with a bigger restrictor for GRC (550+ BHP) and unrestricted for gymkhana.

Such a shame. Could you dip a shell after a fire like that or would it have twisted etc?

Looks like they just got rarer

Did he not have a fire extinguisher system in it?

Saw that on Facebook this morning, a slightly callous video for the demise of an iconic car!

As said above, I wonder if anything is salvageable? Block has a second EscCos, I wonder if he will convert that for rally now?

My mate works for a fire ext company and said most of the best systems are about giving you time to get out, not control or put out a big fire.

Although it's a real shame to see the car gone, at least it went out doing what it was built for.

Guess we can knock that down to 6 now...

...I see Block is already talking about building a replacement.

Aftermath picture from Facebook...

...looks like he might be able to use the skid plate on the new build.

Sequence of the crash from track side:

What a shame. But the money he has he will no doubt do another one.

Ken Block will reveal his replacement EscCos today:

Group A meets modern WRCar: sounds incredible in theory, I'm intrigued to see how this turns out! (And I wonder who built the car?)

I wonder how long before this ends up a burnt out shell. I know its each to their own and how they want to modify cars etc but I think he's ruined the lines with this one.

I don't think the livery is helping show off the lines of the car very well (I also wonder how different the real car will be to the renders: I can't see the real car having side and rear exhausts!).

There are a couple of shots of the car in plain colours at the end of this video...

...and I think that shows it off much better.

I hope he doesn't bin this one, it's my assumption that it will use more modern running gear so hopefully he won't have a gearbox woes this time!

Not my taste, but fair play. He's made his money and is enjoying it, while generating interest in rallying for millions of yoofs. Tempted to go off to Donegal to see it in the summer.

Although I'm not a massive fan of Block, got to give him credit for doing something new with something old, its also good for the Cosworth scene, lets be hones if we had cash to burn we'd probably do the exact same thing and enjoy Motorsport like he does. Hats off in my eyes

Fully agree with you. If I had the money I'd definitely be spending it on Group A and early WRCars (and quite likely I'd be parking them in trees as well).

Yep looks like shit to me. His driving films are same old rehearsed crap. Put him on a rally stage and he bins it. Waaaaaay better driver than me but still shit. I just don’t get the hype

I first saw him in competition at the World Rallycross round at Loheac back in 2014. He was bloody rapid that weekend, he smashed the lap record (racing against Loeb and Solberg) and only missed a podium because his spotter was confused.

He's never going to be World Champion, but he isn't talentless.

I’m loving the look of his new escort.
Feeling the boxier arches.
Good luck to him

Cheers Paul
