Default Mint Golf Tdi150

My brother recently finished his tour In Afghan with the Royal Marines. He needed a car after selling his Focus ST before he deployed and he asked me to help him find a nice motor for upto £5000. After pulling a few strings I managed to secure him this:

2004 Golf GT Tdi150 in Metallic Black. 32k miles from new. Its like the day it left the factory with no marks anywhere, all original paint. The interior is pristine. Came with the original GTI wheels and a spare set of brand new Santa Monica wheels as shown in picture. Brand new Eibachs, Chipped to 197bhp, its pretty quick as well.

I think its a lot of car for the price.

I didnt think it was too bad to be honest. 2002 models with 80-100k miles are selling for around £3500-4000 and later models with higher miles are sitting at around £5k.

Nice motor, looks clean as.

Just one thing though, on the badge isn't the 130bhp models a red TI?

Never the less still a clean motor

Don't think so. I had a 150 diesel from new in 2003 and it was a red 'I'. the difference between the 130's and 150's were the 150's had the centre rear headrest, the 16" wheels, and the lower front chin spoiler.

The coloured gti badge depicting what horse power it is, is only on the engine cover if my mate is rite. Don't know whats what, but he worked at a vw body shop.

IMO though I think you could of got him a better car for the money. Mint mondeo st tdci go for £4000 that's if he wanted a diesel, if not then I could think of a few cars I would rather have

Yeah that was the predicament, but he sided with the lower miles and condition.

Yeah, he wanted a small hatchback, and hes not at all mechanically minded, so I needed to get him something that was going to be pretty bullet proof for the next couple of years. It came with brand new tyres on both sets of wheels, new genuine discs and pads all round and taxed for year. And hopefully if he keeps it tidy and doesnt put many miles on it, it should still fetch good money when he comes to sell it.

I thought the red DI was for both 130/150 models, the red i on GTI was for the turbo'ed petrol models, could be wrong though.

Non Turbo was GTI in all silver
Turbo was GTI with Red 'I'
Turbo Diesel (89BHP) Normal TDI
Turbo Diesel (99BHP - 109BHP) TDI with Red 'I'
Turbo Diesel (114BHP - 129BHP) TDI with Red 'D' + 'I'
Turbo Diesel (148BHP) All Red TDI

I Think

Nice car, looks very clean.

Our local tuner said out of the 20/30 so 130hp models he's had on his dyno he's never seen any at a standard 130. They've always been 150!

Anyway like I said, looks very clean and with the map these don't hang around!

Nice car
Anything else been done to get 197bhp? Seems high for a 150, they don't usually seem to map that well!
Bet its gorgeous to drive, mines done 90k and still drives lovely.

if im right the GTTDI had 130bhp, then a GTTDI highline model had 150bhp + 6 speed gearbox, my mate had the highline bora diesel which was mapped to the 200bp plus decat and had summat like 350 lbs/ft of torque

I Think

the one to completely avoid

1.9 E SDI 5d (non turbo diesel) 68bhp

Just what the tuner qouted. It drives really well. Nice smooth power delivery which is unusual for the PD's, mine used to be quite punchy. He had an 59 plate Focus ST3 before this and he thinks it drives just as well, and doesnt feel that much slower than the ST.

The 150's are always smoother. The 130's are violent how they come on power!
Lovely car either way, nice find!
