Here's the in car of my spin last year at camp, if you look about 10 seconds into the video the car twitches left, thats from the strut moving relative to the hub which put a significant amount of toe out onto the car on that wheel, thus making it as if I had steered left a bit, as it happened I felt it so immediately corrected it, so you only see a bit of a twitch but obviously that sort of twitch when you are already on the cornering limit of the car is always going to be a problem, and it was the back that broke free, I turned into the skid to try and catch it but even on full lock it wasnt enough, and it made it to the grass, once it was there I had no chance as ran out of grip.
As soon as I pulled away after the car had settled, I could feel something was wrong, so we put hazzards on and limped round to the pull in after quarry where I would be out the way enough to not interfere with the session for everyone else.
It was very close to hitting the barrier as you can see!
I thought the bolt had come loose but much to my surprise the bolt wasnt loose at all when I went to undo it, but there obviously just wasnt enough friction on it for some reason (maybe it was a bit greasey when it was assembled) to hold on the shock absorber with hard cornering forces.
Good lesson in why not to use that type of shock (slotted for camber adjustment) and the first thing I did to the car after was fit some better shocks instead!
You can see in this picture where I had the full lock on trying to catch it, which held it sideways briefly, which I guess took just enough momentum out to stop it getting the barrier!

me and my brother in law shared my father in laws XR4x4 Turbo technics on a track day. I did the morning and he done the afternoon.. morning was spot on
and then his first session out he went a bit hot into paddock hill and skipped across the gravel and into the wall. I was passenger and thats the side it hit,,
broke my nose as the a piller kissed me crash helmet and the seat twisted so my elbow wedged against the handbrake and I done my ribs in..

In the comments there's a link to the Civics lap prior to it going bang, not suprised it failed, he's shifting down to 3rd in 4th/5th gear corners.

that impact wasnt at 135mph either as we were sideways for what felt like eternity and managed to scrub a load of speed off and luckily the tyre wall soft so managed to get away with that.
My speedo didnt over-read either as i had tested upto 140mph with my satnav and it was within 2mph at that speed
