How much does the film cost to do compared to paint? I have a GRP bodied kitcar and film might be easier.
Whats it like to apply to curved surfaces? I assume it's like slightly stretchy window tinting film?
Car looks great!

James - not a pro mate, only wrapped a couple of cars!
jk12 - yes mate the mould things and the roof rails are going carbon today
minirotty - for me to do my own cars yes LOADS cheaper than a respray, and it can be removed if i get bored! Not sure what it would cost from a company to do it as I didnt get any quotes from a pro.
rossco - not too difficult mate, just got to have the right tools and a bit of patience, already got a Milltek on there mate so sounds awesome!!
biscuittin - havent done all of the door shuts but am looking into doing them, seems like it will be a mission on this one though, doesnt 'do my head in' though as you put it!!!
graham - as above patience mate, no dirt or bubbles so far.

What type of vinyl did you buy and where from?
How long has it taken you so far?
How hard are things like the door handles?
thanks

Looking good mate. Should look smart when it's all done.
Put some pics up when you do them mate - before, during & after if possible.

Fil - works out about Ł12 a metre and a car that size will use around 20 metres. After that its just time and patience!!
Will take some new pics tomorrow!

Fudgey - Bodywork has to be clean, dust and dirt free. I use Isopropyl (panel wipe) before applying. Always best to do indoors, although i did do one panel outside and it was fine!
Darren - Very durable, it will last for years and doesnt wreck the paint at all if removed correctly.
I've completed the rear now, just bonnet and bumper to do, want to redo the rear quarter and one part of the tailgate, then she's finished!!

Few more pics, getting there slowly!! Just bonnet, bumper and rear roof spoiler to do! Needs to tidy up a few places and sort the edge where the carbon bit above the exhausts join the white but nothing too drastic! Painted the ghastly aluminium around the edge satin black, just got the ones below the windows to do!

lol, cheers!! There are a couple of panels i'm going to do again once its finished but happy with the result, just want it all one colour now, kind of embarrassing driving about in a Hong Kong taxi!!
Yes the door moulds came off and wrapped them seperately, as well as the roof rails, chrome window surrounds etc etc....
Application is hot air gun on a low heat, lots of patience and a very clean panel!!!! No water is used, all dry. I used a squeegee in places but found it easier with my hands!

cool, cheers for the tip mate, not that ill probably give it a go, but you never know!
how ticky are the corners to do, like the boot edges and door corners etc, as yours look spot on, but i can just imagine that they were a bit of a ball ache!
i once tinted the windows on my old mk4 escort (5dr ahem), couldnt get on doing it wet, so ended up just doing it dry, no hot air gun either and managed to get very few little bubbles, so was quite inpressed lol
