Background Removal Tutorial
Here is our base image
nice, but boring background, just want the car!
So use the background eraser tool set to the following
Now start removing the background, photoshop should pull it out for you automatically
now all the background is removed round the edges, time for a touch up, use the eraser to remove the rest of the background dont worry if you go to far over the car.
Now all the background is removed you need to tidy the edges of the car, select the history brush
and restore the edges of the car you didn't want to remove usually found where similar colours match
now use the eraser again to remove all the left over bit that you dont want and clean the edges up
Hey presto, finished!
Add a new layer behind the carm add a gradient map in layer style, finished

Hey madmac, without wanting to steal all your secrets, what would you do with the background that appears through a window like below ?
I have removed the grass from around the car, but it still shows in the windows...
Cheers

I used a smart edge selection tool, then created a mask from the selection, dropped the unnecessary background and added the new background.
I am using paintshop pro 7, which doesn't appear to have the edge eraser tool you mentionned.
Will have to scour the web for tip and tricks on glass by the looks of things.

Nicely done Mac,
Enter the Dragon 'Han' voice says "Your Skills are Extraordinary"
Thanks for the help
Froq,
Ive got PS7 too, and if you select the eraser tool (right click it) then select background tool, at the top of the screen should be a tool bar, where you can select find edges, as Mac has shown above.......
Perhaps you just missed it or the viewing settings are right, dont know for sure but it is on mine.
