its a 52"x21"x17"
tropical freshwater aquarium with an amazon back to nature poly 3d background bogwood sand coloured substrate java fern and java moss which i have cut down and removed as the bog wood was over run by it and it was out of control and seems to grow very quicklylive plants and ocean rock
running a under gravel filter with 2 800l per hour power heads as filteration
2 48" lights a day glo for plants and a white light to bring out the colour of the fish.
currently has a albino red fin shark, 4 tiger barbs,3 albino tiger barbs, 2 green tiger barbs, golden nugget plec, 2 golden barbs, 2 red neon dwarf gourami and 6 mountain shrimp..

i love cichlids we used to keep jewel cichlids and convicts

had many tanks over the years were upgrading to a 6x2x2 next year gonna keep discus german rams and cardinal and rummy nose tetra in it with shrimp cant wait to get it im building this 1 in the wall but leaving it big enough to replace it with the bigger tank when we het it

my misus put the iron through my tropical tank 3yrs ago. all the water came flooding out all over the dinning room floor .was gutted. luckly no fish died but they got moved in a bucket quickly to misus step dad's tank and never returned.
hehas still got them now inc a pleco which is massive!!!
no digital photo's sorry. the tank was a 5ft so alot of water on floor!!!!!!

i now keep jap koi in garden .can't get broken lol!!!

well most of it soaked through carpet and ended up in cellar. the carpet got ripped up and chucked in front garden. luckly i hadn't decorated so it made me get the room done. there is now laminate down so didn't want that getting ruined .

Alan, how did you light your tank? I ask as I bought mine with no lights (just tank/cabinet/sump) and I've been looking at how to light it but don't fancy having a massive ballast kicking about. Yours looks really well lit, just how I'd like mine. Are they T5 tubes?

I'm beginning to move away from cichlids and into oddballs - fancy an eel and a black ghost knife fish

and henry, he has sore eyes and is blind in one of them (rescued him off his last owner who was cluless) the vet says they can get his other eye open when hes bigger, he not actually blind in it its just healed over

we used to keep turtles in ours we had 3 2 red ear sliders and a yellow ear slider but we got bored of them and got a black emperor scorpion i had the tank full of water though and they used to just swim up to the top for air rather than having somewere to climb out

the lights are just tropical 48" tubes from an aquatic shop 1 says to stimulate plant growth

cressie the angel's are just young. the shrimp were way to big to be eaten. i spoke to the place i got em from an he said his mate's shrimp disapeared for month's then he spotted them again about twice the size..

i'll get some better pic's of my set up soon.

cheers buddy ive got 5 mountain shrimp in my tank they dissapear then re appear all the time sometimes months apart lol

check your tank though as we did have 10 but found 5 dried up on the floor were they had escaped so i had to seal around the lid

there's a fitted lid on the tank so i'd hope they aint got out. but i'll have a look.. i had newt's a while back that disapeared. found em yr's later when i moved out of my parent's house. they'd made it right across my room..



if you look in the 2nd pic of mine there's a shrimp swimming across the front of the tank.

i'm gonna get some cherry shrimp tomorrow hopefully. i'll prob end up getting rid of the angel's when there a bit bigger. i don't want em eating all the other fish in the tank. either that or i'll get another tank for em. there cheeky as fook!! when ever i go to the tank for a look the bugger's want feeding!!

i wouldnt mate cherry shrimp will just be expensive fish food for your angels they are more for just a shrimp only tank bud
