Homemade turbo shield
I made myself a stainless steel turbo heatshield, but what is the best way to get it shining like a mirror?? There are minor scratches from removing some welding stuff and so.
I hope somebody can give me a few good tips to get it right!

Looking really good m8, just for interest, how much would you ask for one, IF you would make more of them?
Maybe a bit of a stupid question, but how do you mount it?

to polish it mate, get a polishing mop that attaches to a drill, i use a medium grade mop to startn with......smere autosol over the heatshield and start polishing, you will see the results almost immediately.......to finish off, i use a fine mop with Peek metal polish and polish with the drill again....................it just takes patience and it will look bling

Damn.. looking really good.
At the moment I'm trying to polish some parts (lifting eyes, pipes, brackets) to,
but it doesn't even look a little bit like your heatshield.
Do you have any hints/tips?
What I do now is start with paper p150, then p400, then p600, then polishing paste.

Well, I did asked the same question and this is how it went:
DON'T SANDPAPER like some told me to, you hardly can get it out any more like I found out... !!
JUST POLISH, POLISH, POLISH !!!
Stainless steel is very hard and it takes hours.....with a machine! By hand I think by the time you'll finish it will be your 90-st anniversary!!
The advised 'Autosol' gives only deep brilliance, but doesn't polish any scratches away. Therefor I used 'Belgom Alu', this give a 90 % finishing result. The rest will come from long-term polishing by hand with 'Autosol'.
Good luck m8!

That's quite a hint
So what you're saying is throw away all paper.
And only polish till your hand falls off with paste and a machine?
That's quite some work, but hopefully the machine will help me
