The Evo 8 MR and Evo 9 engines can run over 350lb/ft of torque safely. It's torque that normally caps the fun, not horsepower.The other engines can make the extra power - but it's a risk that the rods might exit the block...
You can put ARP rod bolts in to help - but the failures i've seen have been from the centre of the rod itself...

This Evo has had FQ 400 Cams & Rods fitted, Bigger Intercooler, Full Jap Spec Exhaust and various bits n bobs.
Clutch absolutely killed my left leg, coz its sooo heavy. Impossible to get a smooth pull off from the lights.
But what a weapon. Once it was up and running, would kill my FRS completely.

Benni, to be fair mate its a little hard to say really. My car isn't set up so comparision is a little hard.
However, when the Evo comes on boost (Which it does like an animal) it pushes you back into the seat and it feels so planted and focused.
My RS charges well, and feels very planted on boost, but I think the Evo would eat it for breakfast

he didn't buy this car from up north did he cumbria way?
if so it ain't anywhere near 400bhp as my standard MR FQ320 left it standing & the owner was livid

I own a Lancer EVO IX GSR myself but with a little more power power than your mates! LOL
2 weeks ago i had ran an 11.3 @ 132 on straight pumpgas weighting 3360 lbs on my snow tires...
